The opening ceremony has taken place at the 38th Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor and with it the pairings announced for Friday morning's Ryder Cup fourball matches. There were a few surprises from Corey Pavin's teams, as he has chosen four out of his five rookies to make their debut on the Friday morning, including two paired together in the final match in Bubba Watson and Jeff Overton. Bookmaker Ladbrokes reckon Europe will just about edge the morning fourballs, going 10/11 that Europe take a lead into the afternoon foursomes. Ladbrokes also go 4/7 Europe will retain the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor this weekend.

Match One - 7:45am - Westwood/Kaymer v Mickelson/D Johnson
Veteran Ryder Cup stars Lee Westwood and Phil Mickelson will be going head to head in the opening match of the 2010 Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor. Westwood will be partnered by rookie Martin Kaymer, who recently won the PGA Championship, whilst the man who led that tournament at Whistling Straits coming down the 18th hole on Sunday Dustin Johnson will line up in his first match with Mickelson. Ladbrokes favour the European duo, making them their evens favourites to beat Mickelson and Johnson. The Americans are 11/8 whilst it's 5/1 the match will be halved.
Betting Odds:
Evs Westwood/Kaymer
11/8 Mickelson/D Johnson
5/1 Tie
Match Two - 8:00am - McIlroy/McDowell v Cink/Kuchar
It was no secret that Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell would be paired together in the fourballs and they'll take on the American duo of Stewart Cink and Matt Kuchar in the day's second match out at Veltic Manor. McDowell was the winner of the US Open earlier in the year and had a good debut in the competition two years ago at Valhalla. McIlroy makes his debut in the Ryder Cup having forced his way into the world's top ten in 2010 and the Northern Irish pair should form a formidable partnership. Stewart Cink has been a bit off colour since winning the Open Championship in 2009 and had to rely on a wildcard pick from captian Corey Pavin. Cink's experieince should help rookie Matt Kuchar who will be making his debut following a superb season on the PGA Tour. The European duo are favourites to win the match, with Ladbrokes going as short as 4/6 that the Northern Irish pair will win, with Cink and Kuchar 2/1 and the tie a 5/1 shot.
Betting Odds:
4/6 McIlroy/McDowell
2/1 Cink/Kuchar
5/1 Tie
Match Three - 8:15am - Poulter/Fisher v Stricker/Woods
All eyes will be on match three on Friday morning as Tiger Woods pairs up with Steve Stricker to take on the English duo of Ian Poulter and Ross Fisher. Woods and Stricker partnered to good effect in last year's President Cup but will face a tough taks against the two Englishmen. Poulter was the Accenture World Matchplay champion earlier this year and was top points scorer for the European team at Valhalla two years ago. Fisher was the PGA Matchplay winner last year and the pair have performed to good effect together in the past in the World Cup. Ladbrokes make this match the only one where the USA are favourites, with Woods and Stricker the 5/6 jollies to win the match. Ian Poulter and Ross Fisher have been given odds of 13/8 for a sensational win whilst the tie is 5/1.
Betting Odds:
13/8 Poulter/Fisher
5/6 Woods/Stricker
5/1 Tie
Match Four - 8:30am - Donald/Harrington v Watson/Overton
There was a big surprise when Corey Pavin named his pairing for the final match of the morning fourballs, as the two rookie's Bubba Watson and Jeff Overton take their place against Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington. Watson earned his place on the Ryder Cup team courtesy of his runners-up finish at the PGA Championship but we've seen little of him in form since. Overton has also been short of form and although he's had a consistent season he is the only player from either team to never have won a tournament. Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington were both Colin Montgomerie's wildcard picks and have an abundance of experience compared to their American counterparts. Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington will go into this final match of the morning session as the odds on favourites with Ladbrokes making them a 4/6 shot, with Watson and Overton 2/1.
Betting Odds:
4/6 Donald/Harrington
2/1 Watson/Overton
5/1 Tie
Outright Betting
4/7 Europe
