Thomas Pieters Is A Worthy Favourite For The Czech Masters
The European Tour heads to the outskirts of Prague for this week's Czech Masters and the fourth edition of this tournament at the Albatross Resort marks the beginning of the qualification process for the 2018 Ryder Cup...

Pieters Is A Worthy Favourite
This will be the first counting event for next year's Ryder Cup and we are backing Thomas Pieters to lay down an early marker for a spot in the European team by winning the Czech tournament for a second time.
The 7,467 yard course at the Albatross Resort is tailor-made for the big-hitting Pieters and he won there in 2015 before finishing runner-up in 2016. Yes, he missed the cut in Denmark at Himmerland last week but this venue is far more suited to a player who goes ridiculously big off the tee and ranks 25th for putting average on the European Tour (which are both likely to be key stats) this year and he is a best price 8/1 with Betfred.
Tip #1: Thomas Pieters to win @ 8/1 with Betfred.
Next best in the betting is the up-and-coming Englishman Jordan Smith, who is riding the crest of a wave after following up his European Open victory with a top-ten at the US PGA Championship, with Betfred pricing him rather short at 14/1.
Matthew Fitzpatrick is available at 16/1 and he has finished in the top-five in both of his visits to Albatross - 3rd in 2015 and 5th in 2016 - but he arrives in the Czech Republic without a top-25 finish to his name since May.
Martin Kaymer (20/1) has been having similar struggles and hasn't broken the top-30 since April, while his fellow Ryder Cup veteran, Lee Westwood (22/1), has just two top-ten finishes to his name during 2017 and he hasn't won a tournament on the European Tour since 2014.
The Long Shots
Instead, we prefer to look a bit further down the market for a touch of value and Marc Warren fits the bill at 100/1. The Scot will relish the forecast rain later in the week and he can build on his tie for 11th here last year. The course looks like an ideal fit for a player who is plenty big enough of the tee and ranks 10th for putting average, while it bodes well that he halted a poor run of recent form with a tie for 14th in Denmark on Sunday.
Tip #2: Marc Warren (each way) @ 100/1 with Betfred.com.
Finally, Tom Lewis is another who should enjoy Albatross, where he tied for 27th in 2016, and he ranks inside the top-25 for both driving distance and greens in regulation percentage on the tour this year. He has been in decent touch of late, missing just one cut in nine stroke play starts, and he put in a decent effort at the Paul Lawrie Match Play, where he was driving very nicely.
Tip #3: Tom Lewis (each way) @ 100/1 with Unibet.
