The next stage of the Road To Dubai gets underway this week at the Qatar Masters which has attracted a superb field, including 18 players from the World’s top 50. As far as the rankings are concerned the field is led by reigning Road to Dubai Champion and world number four Lee Westwood, who surprisingly missed the cut at the Abu Dhabi Championship last week. Nonetheless, Westwood is quoted at 18/1 to win this week by bookmakers Boylesports.
Favourite at 10/1 however is Ryder Cup player Henrik Stenson, who plays the course very well and who finished in a tie for second place in 2009. He looked like he was striking the ball very well last week in Abu Dhabi where he finished in a respectable 21st position. Defending the title will be the Spaniard Alvaro Quiros, who tends to play well early season and who was a very creditable tied 11th last week.
For many it will be surprising not to see German, Martin Kaymer as favourite. He was in supreme form last week when winning in Abu Dhabi, a win that hoisted him up into 6th place in the world rankings. Punters would do well to remember that Kaymer won back to back tournaments last season meaning that it may be a good idea to ‘strike while the iron is hot’. The German is very attractively priced at 11/1 with Boyle Sports.

Also showing great early season form was Ian Poulter who finished second last week behind Kaymer and Charl Schwartzel, already twice a winner this year with back to back wins in the Africa and Joburg Opens. The two men both have odds of 20/1.
With such a quality field it is difficult to point golf punters in the right direction, but Retief Goosen looks a likely candidate to perform well in this. He has made a very solid start to 2010, with top ten finishes in both the SBS Championship and the Sony Open in Hawaii and he would be our tip to win this week with odds of 14/1.
