Henrik Stenson To Lay Down A Masters Marker With Victory At The Dubai Desert Classic
The Dubai Desert Classic takes centre stage on the European Tour from Thursday and there will be plenty of interest in this tournament as the past two winners at the Emirates Golf Club have gone on to win the US Masters at Augusta - Danny Willett in 2016 and Sergio Garcia in 2017!

The Market Leaders
It is Rory McIlroy who is the man to beat after he returned to action with a tie for 3rd in Abu Dhabi, where Tommy Fleetwood (12/1) again served notice of his prodigious ability with a hugely impressive victory.
McIlroy has twice won the Dubai Desert Classic (2009 and 2015) and he is 9/2 favourite in what is a high-class field this week.
The aforementioned Garcia is defending champion and can be backed at 9/1 after he won the Singapore Open on the Asian Tour on Sunday.
The Best Bet
However, it is the man who chased Garcia home last year that attracts us and Henrik Stenson looks tailor-made for this week's test. The Swede closed Abu Dhabi with a fine 65 to take a share of 8th on Sunday and he will be relishing a return to the Emirates Golf Club, where he has racked up one win (2007) and eight other top-20 finishes in his last 13 visits, including a runner-up spot in 2017.
Quality ball-strikers tend to prosper at the Emirates, which is a venue where the wind often blows and there is a 'linksy' feel to the set-up, where greens in regulation stats are often important. With that in mind, Stenson, the former Open Championship winner, is an obvious choice at 12/1.
Tip #1: Henrik Stenson (each way) @ 12/1 with Betfred - 1/5 odds on 6 places.
The Best of The Rest
Matthew Fitzpatrick's consistent run of form continued as his tie for 3rd in Abu Dhabi was his ninth successive top-20 finish since he won the European Masters and there is much to like about the Englishman. Fitzpatrick has previous in Dubai as he won the 2016 DP World Tour Championship and he tied 5th at the Emirates last year, with Coral going 20/1 on his chances this time.
Tip #2: Matthew Fitzpatrick (each way) @ 20/1 with Coral - 1/5 odds on 7 places.
Rafa Cabrera-Bello always enjoys playing in the desert as he won the 2012 Dubai Desert Classic before finishing runner-up in 2016 and tied 11th in 2017, while he has several top-five finishes in Qatar to his name.
The Scottish Open champion signed off 2017 with a tie for 2nd in Hong Kong and he returned in Abu Dhabi, where he finished hot with a round of 67 to take a share of 40th place. Expect him to improve this week.
Tip #3: Rafa Cabrera-Bello (each way) @ 33/1 with Coral.
Finally, Scott Gallacher is very much a 'horse for the course' as he has produced the best golf of his career at this venue, with his last seven appearances yielding finishes of 10-2-1-1-3-MC-9. The Scot blew away the cobwebs with a solid four days of golf in Abu Dhabi and he will be worth keeping an eye on in Dubai.
Tip #4: Scott Gallacher (each way) @ 90/1 with Unibet - 1/5 odds on 6 places.
