Travelers Golf Championship Odds: Harrington Favourite For Big Win

Since winning this tournament last year, Kenny Perry has struggled to find the same level of form that saw him win two tournaments in 2008 and two in 2009. However it is important to note that he has failed only once in the last two years to make the cut of any tournament and provided he can keep doing that he will always be giving himself a chance to win. These are reasons why Perry should not be ignored as the potential winner of the Travelers Championship this week at the TPC River Highlands Course in Connecticut. The Bookmakers do not write him off either, Ladbrokes for instance quoting him at 20/1 to retain the trophy.

To win however, Perry is up against a strong field with several top ranked players and past winners in the field. Favourite in fact, is Irishman and world number 15, Padraig Harrington. The three time Major winner comes to the tournament after a good showing at the US Open last week, where he finished in a tie for 22nd place. He has also had four top ten finishes this year, suggesting that he is ready to return to the form that saw him win three Majors in less than 15 months, between 2007 and 2008. Harrington can be backed at a more than reasonable 16/1 with ladbrokes.

Others who must be considered in the mix are Justin Rose, winner of the Memorial Tournament a fortnight ago. The Englishman has shown a much improved set of results in 2010 compared to 2009 and there is no reason why he should not go close in this. He has odds of winning of 20/1 and sits alongside past winner, Hunter Mahan in the betting. Mahan has missed the cut in his last three tournaments, including at the US Open last week, but he usually plays this course very well and has to be in with at least an each way chance.

Another player we quite fancy for this is current British Open Champion, Stewart Cink. The world number 31, has not managed to play at the same level as he did when he won at Turnberry last year, but he has shown signs in recent weeks of a return to form. In fact he has enjoyed some prominence in each of his last four tournaments, including the US Open last week where he finished in a tie for 40th. Cink is an outstanding each way contender at 20/1 but can also be backed in the Place Market with odds of 5/1.
