There were more surprises in the Arizona Desert on day two of the WGC-Accenture Matchplay as the top seeds in the Gary Player, Sam Snead and Ben Hogan brackets were all knocked out. Lee Westwood, Jim Furyk and Martin Kaymer all lost their second round matches, whilst favourite and current champion Geoff Ogilvy was also beaten. Rory McIlroy's defeat to Oliver Wilson on the 20th extra hole has meant that the betting has been blown open for the tournament with Paul Casey now 5/1 favourite with bookmaker Ladbrokes.

Geoff Ogilvy was many peoples favourite to win back to back World Accenture Matchplays but came up against a determined Camilo Villegas, who got revenge for his defeat to Ogilvy this time last year winning 3&1. The Colombian now plays American Ben Crane in the last sixteen and has odds of 10/1 to win the event outright with Ladbrokes.
Three Englishman head the betting at the last sixteen stage with Ian Poulter and Luke Donald joining Paul Casey at the head of the betting at odds of 7/1 and 10/1 respectively. Poulter remains the highest seed in the Bobby Jones bracket after defeating Adam Scott in the second round 2&1, which has set up a meeting with Jeev Milka Singh in the last sixteen. Donald and Casey made light work of their matches on Thursday, Donald defeating Robert Allenby and Casey thrashing Mike Weir 5&4.

Although the bookmakers clearly favour the three Englishmen, there are some attractive odds available further down the betting in what has already proved to be a tournament full of surprises. Lee Westwood's victor Nick Watney is as big as 12/1 with Ladbrokes.com as he lines up against Retief Goosen in the last sixteen. The South African beat fellow countryman Ernie Els after extra holes in what was a scrappy match and will have to improve if he wants to beat Watney. Elsewhere, Tim Clark still remains at big odds of 12/1 despite his beating of Vijay Singh and Martin Kaymer and he plays a Sergio Garcia who continues to struggle on the greens.
