Latest US Open Golf Betting: Paul Casey Odds Cut After First Round

The US Open Golf at Pebble Beach is now well underway in California and we have seen some fine play on the links through the first round, the betting is hotting up as well with all of the big names still in contention after playing some solid opening rounds. The big mover in the betting after day 1 is without doubt Paul Casey who sits at the top of the leader board after a first round 69 left him on -2, the Englishman played very solid on Thursday and is now as short as 11/1 with bet365 to lift his first Major title on Sunday night.

Casey is just in behind Tiger Woods in the betting who himself played a decent round to stay in contention, the world no.1 carded a +3 round of 74, he drove the ball well during the day but struggled on the greens as he searched for his best form. Woods can now be backed at 7/1 with Bet365 to lift his 15th Major title, he will need to improve during the second round and at the weekend but it would be no surprise to see Tiger on the prowl once again at Pebble Beach.

Woods was playing with Lee Westwood who after a dodgy start to his first round did start to improve on the back nine, he carded a +4 over round of 75 and has drifted in the betting as a result. Punters wanting to back the in-form Englishman can get good looking odds of 20/1 with Bet365.com, he will be hoping to shoot an under par score on Friday to head into the weekend bang in contention.

Two other Englishman in Luke Donald and Ian Poulter have also been cut in the betting after good rounds on Thursday, both men are in great form and Poulter in particular looks ready to claim a major victory after shooting a score -1. He was solid throughout his round and is now priced at 14/1 with Bet365 to claim a victory at Pebble Beach after being cut across the board, he is man not short on confidence and few would be surprised to see him win the US Open over the next two or three days.
