Patrick Reed Ranks As Our Best Bet For The Inaugural CJ Cup
There is a new addition to the PGA Tour this week as the first renewal of The CJ Cup takes place at Nine Bridges Golf Club on Jeju Island in South Korea and we've got four picks for the latest event in Asia...

The Head Of The Market
The tour remains in Asia following last week's CIMB Classic and there is a massive $9.25m prize purse on offer as 78 players tee up at this 7,265 yard course. It is Fed Ex Cup winner Justin Thomas who is the bookmakers' 8/1 favourite but the US PGA champion is plenty short enough considering his tie for 17th in Malaysia last week.
Paul Casey is in good form as he has racked up seven top-tens in the past five months but he is also a short price at 12/1 as he bids for a first PGA Tour win since 2009.
Meanwhile, Jason Day is available at 14/1 after securing six successive top-25 finishes and Tour Championship winner Xander Schauffele is priced 20/1, with Tony Finau a 22/1 shot after finishing in the top-ten in each of his past three outings.
A new venue makes life difficult but it is worth noting that Nine Bridges has been compared to Gleneagles and there will be a Scottish-feel to proceedings as 15-20mph winds are expected on Jeju Island.
Such conditions shouldn't be a problem for Patrick Reed, who secured 3.5 points at Gleneagles during the 2014 Ryder Cup. The American took 1.5 points in his previous appearance in South Korea at the 2015 Presidents Cup and he has secured three top-seven finishes in six previous visits to East Asia.
The world number 23 ended last season in good touch as he tied 2nd at the US PGA Championship before top-fifteen efforts at the Dell Technologies Championship and the Tour Championship. Reed is a tempting 28/1 on his first start of the new PGA Tour campaign.
Tip #1: Patrick Reed (each way) @ 28/1 with Betfred - 1/4 odds on 5 places.
The conditions in South Korea should suit Rafa Cabrera-Bello too as the Scottish Open champion thrives in the wind and he did finish fourth at the Ballantine's Championship when it was held at the nearby Pinx Golf Club on Jeju Island. The Spaniard is going from strength-to-strength and he can build on his top-ten at the CIMB Classic from last week.
Tip #2: Rafa Cabrera-Bello (each way) @ 40/1 with Betfred.com.
The 2008 Ballantine's Championship winner, Graeme McDowell, is also on our radar as he bids to add to his ten career top-ten finishes in East Asian events. The two-time US Open winner, who picked up three points when the Ryder Cup was held at Gleneagles three years ago, has secured top-twenty finishes at the Scottish Open and Alfred Dunhill Links in recent months, and we fancy conditions should play into his hands here.
Tip #3: Graeme McDowell (each way) @ 125/1 with Betfred.
Finally, Seung Hyuk Kim looks a massive price at 500/1 and that might well be due to the fact he withdrew from his last tournament start - we can't find any information on why he pulled out so we are only going to have a small each-way wager on him at this stage.
The South Korean has gone nine for eleven on the KPGA Tour this season and has won two events, including the inaugural Genesis Championship at the end of September. It was the fifth win of his career and the 31-year-old makes our shortlist, albeit there is an obvious caveat with his recent withdrawal.
Tip #4: Seung Hyuk Kim (each way) @ 500/1 with Paddy Power - 1/5 odds on 6 places.
