The Market Leaders

The previous two editions of this tournament were held in Scotland, with Kiradech Aphibarnrat winning in 2015 and Anthony Wall in 2016, but this year's edition will be held on the Beckenbauer Course at Bad Griesbach, which also hosted the 2015 and 2016 renewals of the European Open.

Richard Bland knows this course well as the veteran Englishman arguably has the best form of the 64 players here having finished 8th on this course in 2015 and 7th in 2016. Bland is a 25/1 shot in what will be his 418th European Tour appearance, albeit he is still searching for a first win.

Richie Ramsay is the 18/1 favourite (Betfred) as he arrives in fine fettle after a runner-up finish at the Irish Open acted as a springboard for top-25 finishes at the Open Championship and the European Open. Ramsay won five matches when finishing 5th and 9th in his previous Paul Lawrie Match Play appearances but his price is a touch short for our liking.

The Selections

We prefer to back match play specialist Nicolas Colsaerts at 25/1 as he loves this format, having played for Europe in the Ryder Cup. Colsaerts boasts a 17-8-2 in career singles match play, including a runner-up finish at the Volvo World Match Play in 2011 and a win in that event in 2012, and a recent top-20 at the Scottish Open suggests his game is in decent shape.

The Belgian missed the cut at the US PGA Championship last week but he will look forward to a slightly easier test this week and he does have course form after finishing tied 13th at the European Open at Bad Griesbach in 2016.
Tip #1: Nicolas Colsaerts (each way) @ 25/1 with Unibet.

Mathew Southgate tied 7th at the 2016 European Open and the in-form Englishman also makes our shortlist at 25/1. Southgate is in fine fettle as he fired a final round 65 to take a share of 6th place at the Open Championship and that came off the back of a runner-up effort at the Irish Open, with the 28-year-old now up to 20th in the Race To Dubai rankings.
Tip #2: Matthew Southgate (each way) @ 25/1 with Paddy Power.
