|Adam Scott (each way)||@ 33 / 1|

|Martin Kaymer (each way)||@ 90 / 1|
|Brendan Steele (each way)||@ 150 / 1|
Our First Pick Is As Clear As Day
Of the 'Big Four' of Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Jason Day, it is Day who makes most appeal for us at a very reasonable 14/1 with Paddy Power. The world number three has a very decent record in this second major of the year as he has finished in the top-ten in five of the past six years and he still ranks as each-way value as Paddy Power are paying out on eight places this week.
Day arrives in form too as he was runner-up at the Byron Nelson before tying for 15th at Muirfield Village, while his record in major tournaments is hugely impressive - 13 top-tens in the past 23 and he hasn't missed a cut in a major since 2012.
Add in the fact that Day won the 2015 US PGA at Whistling Straits - a course which bears a striking similarity to Erin Hills - and you have the makings of a very strong selection.
Tip #1: Jason Day (each way) @ 14/1 with Paddy Power (1/5 odds on eight places).
The US Open is a tournament where the best players tend to come out on top as five of the last six champions were ranked inside the top-fifteen in the world rankings, which brings us to another Australian, Adam Scott.
The world number twelve tends to peak at this time of year as he has gone 9th-4th-18th in his last three appearances at the US Open and the seasonal form of the 2013 Masters winner has perhaps gone under the radar - six top-fifteen finishes during 2017. He is primed for a big performance this week.
Tip #2: Adam Scott (each way) @ 33/1 with William Hill (1/5 odds on six places).
The Long Shots
The form of Jason Dufner seems to have gone a little unnoticed too as the 2013 US PGA Championship winner was victorious on his last start in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village and yet he is as long as 66/1 for Erin Hills.
Dufner has finished in the top-20 in four of his past five US Open appearances (4-4-MC-18-8) and the 40-year-old can be backed at a tempting 66/1 with Sky Bet.
Tip #3: Jason Dufner (each way) @ 66/1 with Sky Bet (1/5 odds on eight places).
Martin Kaymer is simply too good to be as big as 90/1 this week and we fancy the 32-year-old still has another major win in him. The German has had a decent, if unspectacular, season as highlights include a top-four effort at The Honda Classic and a tie for 16th at The Masters.
His effort at The Masters is seriously impressive when you consider the problems he has had with Augusta in the past and let's not forget that he won the US Open as recently as 2014, while he also won the 2010 US PGA at Whistling Straits.
Bearing in mind the set up of Erin Hills, it bodes well that Kaymer is a very decent links golfer - he won the Alfred Dunhill Links in 2010 - and we think he is massively over-priced at 90/1.
Tip #4: Martin Kaymer (each way) @ 90/1 with Betfred (1/4 odds on six places).
Finally, the layout of the par-72 Erin Hills ensures that length off the tee and scrambling could be key statistics this week, which brings us to Brendan Steele. A two-time winner on the PGA Tour, including his success at the Safeway Open towards the back end of 2016, Steele ranks 36th for driving distance and 1st for scrambling stats on the PGA Tour this year.
Steele has been a model of consistency as he has missed just one cut since the 2016 US PGA and he tied for 6th at The Players recently. The 34-year-old is in decent touch and could well come into contention after producing a career-best effort in majors to tie for 15th at Oakmont twelve months ago.
Tip #5: Brendan Steele (each way) @ 150/1 with Sky Bet (1/5 odds on eight places).
