Henrik Stenson Leads European Challenge in Volvo China Open Golf Betting

2009 USPGA Champion Y E Yang from Korea will start favourite to win the latest Road to Dubai tournament ,the Volvo China Open, at the Suzhou Jinji Lake International Golf Club this week, but he will be closely pursued by Swede, Henrik Stenson and Englishman, Oliver Wilson, who were both part of the European Ryder Cup Team on 2008. Yang in fact has odds of 12/1 with Paddy power while Stenson is at 14/1 and Wilson at 18s.

Yang has been in reasonable form since winning the PGA Championship having only missed one cut since that event. He finished in a tie for eighth place at the US Masters last week, showing signs of the breathtaking form from last August and was in contention when finishing third in the Phoenix Open a few weeks ago.

Stenson is the highest ranked player in the tournament this week, but he has slipped out of the top ten and is now down at number 16 after a run of indifferent form which saw him miss the cut in Augusta last week. He is obviously keen to get matters right with himself and travelled to China immediately after his two rounds at Augusta.

After finishing an excellent tied sixth in the WGC-CA World Championship behind Ernie Els last month, Graeme McDowell from Northern Ireland has missed his last two cuts, including The Masters which has seen him dropped from the world’s top 50. McDowell is a much better player than that and we think he might well come back to some much needed form this week in order to get back amongst the world’s elite and also into Ryder Cup contention. Selecting the winner of this tournament is always so hard with so many locally invited players and unknown quantities making up the field. However, Oliver Wilson, has performed well at the China Open in the past, tying for second place in both 2005 and 2008. At 18/1 we think he is as good as anyone in this tournament and therefore our money goes on him to win his first European tour title..
