Pablo Larrazabal Heads The Betting Shortlist For The Inaugural NBO Oman Open
The first of three new events added to the European Tour calendar this season takes centre stage on Thursday as the inaugural NBO Oman Open gets underway at the Greg Norman-designed Al Mouj Golf Club...

|NBO Oman Open|
|Tips||Pablo Larrazabal (each way) - T44 Best Bet||@ 40 / 1|
|Alexander Bjork (each way) - T12||@ 50 / 1|
|Soren Kjeldsen (each way) - MC||@ 50 / 1|
|Thomas Detry (each way) - T31||@ 33 / 1|
There is a bit of course history to go on at Al Mouj as this venue has previously hosted the Challenge Tour's National Bank of Oman Classic in 2013 and 2014, as well as the NBO Golf Classic Grand Final from 2015 to 2017.
For those who love using course form as the basis of their bets, Jess Dantorp (125/1) could be one to consider as his results at Al Mouj read: 26-7-2-5.
It is Alexander Levy who is a 16/1 favourite after finishing tied 7th and tied 4th in Abu Dhabi and Dubai respectively this year, although he ran out of steam when tying for 55th in Malaysia last time out.
Shubhankar Sharma is next best at 20/1 after winning twice on the European Tour already this season, albeit his record in these conditions is something of an unknown.
Our best bet for the week is Pablo Larrazabal as he arrives in Oman off the back of a confidence-boosting tie for 3rd at the Maybank Championship. The former Abu Dhabi Championship winner has a fine record in the Middle East and he is a decent links exponent, with the Spaniard previously winning the Le Golf National in France.
Tip #1: Pablo Larrazabal (each way) @ 40/1 with Betfred - 1/5 odds on 6 places.
Al Mouj is a links-style venue and it is a place where the wind tends to blow, which could be a bonus for someone like Soren Kjeldsen. The 42-year-old has an excellent record in the Middle East and he is someone who often produces his best on links courses, with the Irish Open winner racking up top-tens at the Open Championship and the Scottish Open in recent campaigns.
Tip #2: Soren Kjeldsen (each way) @ 50/1 with Coral - 1/5 odds on 7 places.
Thomas Detry finished 41st at Al Mouj in 2016 and the 25-year-old Belgian is someone who appears to be getting to grips with conditions in the Middle East as he has picked up three successive top-25s to start 2018, including a tie for 9th in Abu Dhabi.
Tip #3: Thomas Detry (each way) @ 33/1 with Betfred.com.
Finally, Alexander Bjork tied 7th at this venue in 2016 and the Swede enjoyed a solid first season on the European Tour last year. The 27-year-old has already picked up some decent results in the desert, finishing tied 17th at the DP World Tour Championship, while his last five outings have involved a tie for 2nd in Hong Kong and a tie for 6th at the Dubai Desert Classic.
However, it is worth noting that three of Bjork's results in the past five have been missed cuts so he can be 'hit and miss', albeit we are going to back him for a good week at a venue where he has performed well in the past.
Tip #4: Alexander Bjork (each way) @ 50/1 with Coral.
