Golf super-agent Andrew 'Chubby' Chandler is a USPGA Championship win away from securing a 'Chubby Slam' for the 2011 season. Chandler is manager of all three major winners of the year so far and he boasts some leading fancies with Paddy Power for this week's fourth and final major at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Georgia.
Chandler's International Sports Management (ISM) company can lay claim to some of the finest golfers in the world in their stable and they have enjoyed a stellar year - first Charl Schwartzel won the US Masters, then Rory McIlroy claimed the US Open title and Darren Clarke made it three from three for Chandler with victory at the Open Championships.
Paddy Power offer 7/2 that one of Chandler's players wins the USPGA Championship this week to complete the 'Chubby Slam', and they go 1/6 on that he falls just short.
Chandler will certainly fancy his chances as his stables are in hot form after his players won four of the last five majors since Louis Oosthuizen won the British Open last year. Only Martin Kaymer's win in last year's PGA Championship halted a clean sweep.
For Chandler, Darren Clarke's win at the British Open will have been his most satisfying as the Northern Irish player claimed his first major victory and he was the first high profile player to join ISM more than 20 years ago. Clarke is priced at odds of 150/1 for a second major win this week, although Chandler might prefer to see another man take the title.
Chandler has said that no-one from his stables is more deserving of a major win than Lee Westwood. The world number two is still looking for his maiden slam title and he arrives in decent nick after a closing round 65 at last week's WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, where he finished tied-ninth. Westwood can be backed at odds of 13/1 with PaddyPower.com to win the USPGA this week as he looks to improve on a career best USPGA finish of tied-third from 2009.
Chandler's Rory McIlroy is outright favourite this week though at 11/1 after the Ulsterman finished tied third in each of the last two USPGA's. McIlroy himself has said he always though the USPGA was his best hope of a major win before his US Open success and he will be a dangerous proposition this week.
Meanwhile, US Masters champion Charl Schwartzel has a best of tied-18th at the USPGA and he is the best of the rest in the odds at 50/1, with Chandler backing him to be one of the best players in the world in the next few years.
Also from the ISM clan are Ernie Els (125/1), Simon Dyson (125/1), Louis Oosthuizen (150/1) and David Horsey (300/1), who al provide long odds to complete the Chubby Slam come Sunday evening.
