Iberdrola Open Golf Betting: Soren Hansen Favourite for First win of the Year

The inaugural Iberdrola Open Golf Championship of Mallorca gets underway this week with a field headed in the betting by Ryder Cup Star, Soren Hansen. The big Dane has been installed at the top of the betting market with odds of 12/1 from VC Bet which for an event as open looking as this one we think are not particularly friendly.

Hansen in fact has not even played since missing the cut at the US Masters and although he has had three top ten finishes so far this season, he is not in the form that we would be happy enough with, to back him to win here.

Chris Wood the young Englishman who finished so prominently in third place at the Open Championship last year is still waiting for his first win on tour and he certainly has the game to do so this week in Mallorca. Wood appears to have come out of the slump that saw him miss three successive cuts last month, and finished in a very creditable tie for third place last week in the Italian Open. He will know that if he can bring that form with him to the Balearics then he could go very close to winning here. Wood is currently second favourite at 16/1 with Victor Chandler Bookmakers.

South African Hennie Otto looked in good form in Italy last week, where he finished in a tie for 7th place. Otto was the winner of the Vodacom Championship a few weeks ago and has had four top ten finishes in 11 events this year which makes him, as far as we are concerned look a reasonable bet for each way golf punters; he is currently a 40/1 shot with Victor Chandler
