Luke Donald To Enhance Excellent But Winless Record At The RBC Heritage
It was wonderful to see Sergio Garcia win his first major at the US Masters (even if we had backed Justin Rose pre-tournament!) and we are very much looking forward to this week's RBC Heritage tournament at the Harbour Town Golf Links in South Carolina...
|13th April - 16th April||Odds||Won/Lost||Bet|
|Tips||Bill Haas (each way) Best Bet||@ 33 / 1|
|Luke Donald (each way) - 2nd||@ 40 / 1||P|
|DA Points (each way)||@ 150 / 1|
We backed Russell Knox (66/1) and Luke Donald (50/1) each-way in this event twelve months ago and they each tied 2nd, behind the eventual winner Branden Grace, although Knox's recent return of four missed cuts in six starts ensures we will be swerving him this week.
Donald is an interesting each-way price again though (40/1 with Bet Victor) as he is very much a horse for this course, where he has finished in the top-three in six of his last eight visits, including four runner-up or tied 2nd finishes!
Donald is yet to get over the line to win this event but he is second in the all-time money list there and his return of three top-30s in six PGA Tour starts during 2017 suggests that he is building nicely into a bit of form.
Tip #1: Luke Donald (each way) @ 40/1 with Bet Victor.
The Top Of The Market
It is 2014 Heritage winner Matt Kuchar who is the 16/1 favourite following his tie for 4th at Augusta on Sunday, although it is worth noting that seven of the last ten winners of The Heritage either missed the cut or did not play at Augusta.
Meanwhile, 2011 winner Brandt Snedeker can be backed at 22/1 and the in-form Russell Henley, who has racked up six top-fifteens in nine starts, including victory in Houston and a career-best tie for 11th at The Masters, is available at 33/1.
However, we like the look of another in-form American as Bill Haas has secured seven top-20 finishes in ten appearances, including his 3rd place effort at the WGC Match Play. A six-time winner on the PGA Tour, Haas produced a career-best effort to tie for 14th at Harbour Town Links last year and we fancy he can improve on that.
It is well worth noting that the last five winners of the Heritage all ranked inside the top-15 for greens in regulation and scrambling stats for the week, with Haas currently ranked 19th for GIR and 3rd for scrambling stats on this season's tour.
Tip #2: Bill Haas (each way) @ 33/1 with Sky Bet.
The Outside Bet
Finally, DA Points is another player who ticks plenty of boxes when it comes to statistics as he ranks 24th for scrambling, 12th for GIR and tied 35th for driving accuracy this season, with accuracy preferred over power this week.
Points, who tied 20th in this event in 2012, should be full of confidence right now as he won his first title since the 2013 Houston Open with victory in Puerto Rico before tying 23rd in Houston a couple of weeks ago. At 150/1, Points is well worth a small each-way flutter.
Tip #3: DA Points (each way) @ 150/1 with Betfred.
