We've teamed up with online bookmaker Unibet.com to highlight some of the best match betting opportunites in this year's 2011 PGA Championship beginning on Thursday in Atlanta, Georgia.
Paul Casey v Simon Dyson
Casey has been largely out of form in 2011 and could only manage a 45th place finish last week in Firestone. Prior to that he missed four cuts in the five tournaments which he had played and doesn’t look likely to reverse his fortunes this week.
Dyson loves playing in the hot weather and arrives on the back of winning the Irish Open two weeks ago. Last year the Englishman finished joint 12th and looks likely for another top-20 finish this time round.
Tip: Back Simon Dyson at odds of 1.85 with Unibet.
Luke Donald v Lee Westwood
The world’s top two players are likely to be both involved come Sunday and both warmed up in impressive fashion at last week’s Bridgestone at Firestone.
Donald came close to winning at Firestone and was only let down by some uncharacteristically missed putts just left him short of victory. Westwood finished with a 65 at Firestone putting him spot on for an elusive first major. This long course will suit him and Westwood will go very close to winning this tournament. He narrowly gets the vote over Donald as he has contended for numerous majors including a third at this year’s US Open.
Tip: Back Lee Westwood at odds of 1.95 with Unibet.
Graeme McDowell v Padraig Harrington
Two former major champions who are both going through a loss of form, one greater than the other.
This year, McDowell has mixed flashes of brilliance with poor play. He was very disappointing at Firestone to finish 65th and one hopes that Major golf will help him rediscover some form this week.
Harrington won the USPGA back in 2008 but then decided to adjust his technique which has resulted in a loss of form for the Irishman. He has dropped to No.66 in the world and doesn’t look like contending for a tournament anytime soon.
Tip: Back Graeme McDowell at odds of 1.75 with Unibet.
Steve Stricker v Phil Mickelson
Stricker has been one of the most consistent performers in 2011 having not finished outside the top 30 in any of the 13 PGA tour events he has played in this season. A very good putter, Stricker has never really contended for a Major so the pressure of the big tournaments seems that it may be too much and is best avoided.
Mickelson is a proven Major contender having won this major in 2005 and finished runner-up at this venue in 2001. A few wayward performances this season shouldn’t prevent Lefty being involved come Sunday.
Tip: Back Phil Mickelson at odds of 2.15 with Unibet
