The Avantha Masters Golf Tournament that takes place at the DLF Golf Club in Delhi, India this week where it will become the third European Tour event to be held in the country.
The Tournament provides a perfect opportunity for many lesser known players from India and the Asian tour to rub shoulders with those more regularly seen in the Tours bigger events, but moreover it provides an opportunity for the fastest growing sport in India to put the country on the world golfing map.
Many of the top Europeans will be missing from the field, but the tournament still makes for an excellent betting event, with so many players in with genuine chances. Favourite is three time European tour winner, Jeev Milkha Singh, who is currently ranked at 59 in the world. Singh is a 12/1 shot with Bet365, which we believe are excellent odds, particularly after the form Singh showed last week when tying for 15th place in the Dubai Desert Classic. Home advantage will also assist the Indian number one and the fact that he knows and plays the course well further enhances his prospects.

The course last hosted a European tour event two years ago, when New Zealander, Mark Brown, won the Johnnie Walker Classic here, with an -18 score, which saw him win by three strokes. It is good to see Darren Clarke from Northern Ireland playing again this week. Darren has been busy so far this year and is playing well. Other players who are in with good solid chances this week is the Chinese number one, Wen-chong Liang, who was very prominent last week in Dubai and Shiv Kapur, the Indian number two, who will be looking to capitalise on home advantage.
