US PGA Champion Martin Kaymer heads the betting with odds of 11/1 offered by Bet365 to win this week’s KLM Open in Holland. To win however he must take on a strong looking field at the Hilversumsche Golf Club in Hilversum, Holland, which last played host to the tournament in 2005, when it was won by Spaniard, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano.

Amongst those who will be up against Kaymer this week, will be Open Champion, Louis Oosthuizen, who has struggled lately on tour missing the cuts in both his last two events. He, like Kaymer will be anxious to prove that his ‘Major’ success was no fluke and that he is capable of following it up with another tour win. The South African has been given odds of 30/1 with bet365 which could represent excellent each way value.
Fernandez-Castano is clearly in with a chance on a course that he clearly plays well on. However he has not won on tour since taking the British Masters two years ago and has slumped to 119 in the world rankings. He did finish in a tie for third place in the Irish Open a few weeks ago, and was tied for 11th at the Czech Open last month, but he had to withdraw from last week’s Omega European Masters. The 30 year old Spaniard is a 35/1 chance to regain his title this week.

Defending KLM champion in fact is Simon Dyson, who won following a play-off last year but also won the event in 2006. Although he disappointed in the European Masters last week, Dyson finished in the top ten of both his previous tournaments and before that he was a very creditable 12th in the US PGA. He was extremely close to making the European Ryder Cup team and appears to have lost none of his determination and is a player who could feature very prominently once again as he tries for a third crown in Holland; Dyson can be backed at 33/1.
Whilst elder brother Edoardo has been grabbing all the headlines, Francesco Molinari will surely want to get on the same ‘bandwagon’ . Although having not won a tournament since he took the Italian Open in 2006, Francesco has been seriously close on several occasions and has enjoyed eight top ten finishes this year alone, including a tie for third place at the Johnnie Walker Classic two weeks ago. He knows it is about time to get into the winners enclosure again and he is our pick to triumph this week and provide him with a huge boost before the Ryder Cup at the end of the month.
