The top 70 players on the FedEx Cup list will be teeing off at the Cog Hill Golf course this Thursday looking to win the BMW Golf championship, the penultimate play-off round for the FedEx Cup. Favourite in the betting is defending champion, Tiger Woods with odds of around 13/2 but is a best price of 7/1 with Ladbrokes while next best is Phil Mickelson with odds of around the 12/1 mark.
Woods seems to be slowly but surely getting his act together and looked good last week in the Barclays, where he tied for 11th place thus securing his place for this week’s event and keeping his world number 1 ranking. In fact Woods seems to love this Cog Hill course having won the BMW there in both 2007 and 2009, where he broke the course record with a magnificent 62 on the par 71 course. Woods also won on the course in 2003, 1999 and 1997, when winning the Western Open giving him a record at the course that is second to none.
BMW golf Championship Odds Comparison.
Another player who has won on the course is FedEx Cup points leader, Matt Kuchar who won the 1997 US Amateur Championship. Kuchar has been in terrific form this year with a win in the Barclays and nine other top ten finishes. He is favourite in fact to win the FedEx Cup and is more than a reasonable bet with odds of 25/1 with Ladbrokes to win or at least go close this week.
Bookmakers also report that world number 4, Steve Stricker is being well supported following a tie for third place in the Barclays and a 9th place last week in the Deutsche Bank Championship. He is in third place on the FedEx Cup list and looks in good enough form to be up with the top boys again this week and should be backed on an each way basis, especially with the excellent odds of 14/1. We would also strongly support the each way claims of Australian Adam Scott to win this week. With three top ten finishes in his last four events, including a tie for fifth place last week, he is in great form and should be there or thereabouts come Sunday evening. Scott can be backed at 25/1.
