Billy Horschel Is A Horse For The Course At The St Jude Classic
With just one week to go until the 2017 US Open, a relatively weak field heads to the demanding TPC Southwind Course in Memphis, Tennessee, for the St Jude Classic on Thursday. We've picked out four bets for what should be an intriguing four days of action...
|8th June - 11th June||Odds||Won/Lost||Bet|

|Tips||Billy Horschel (each way) Best Bet||@ 33 / 1||P|
|Steve Stricker (each way)||@ 50 / 1|
|Ian Poulter (each way)||@ 50 / 1|
|Davis Love First Round Leader (each way)||@ 150 / 1|
The Head Of The Market
It is the in-form Rickie Fowler who heads to Memphis as an 8/1 favourite (Betfred) in what will be only his second appearance in this tournament and he is looking to build on last week's tie for 2nd at The Memorial.
Fowler is certainly in good touch but that price is way too short for a player who simply doesn't win often enough considering his enormous talent and the same could be said of 12/1 shot Brooks Koepka, who has gone 19-3-2 in his past three visits to TPC Southwind.
Meanwhile, Adam Scott (14/1) appears in this event for the first time in ten years and Phil Mickelson can be backed at 20/1. Mickelson has a fine record at this venue, going 2-11-3-2 in his past four visits, and he can play with freedom after announcing his intention to miss the US Open in favour of attending his daughter's graduation, albeit it is nigh on four years since 'Lefty' last won on the PGA Tour.
Our first pick is another 'horse for the course' in Billy Horschel as the American has often stated his admiration for Southwind, where he has gone 10-6-8 in his past three visits. He arrives having won a fourth PGA Tour title of his career at the AT&T Byron Nelson earlier this season and we are happy to back him at 33/1.
Tip #1: Billy Horschel (each way) @ 33/1 with Bet Victor.
Meanwhile, Steve Stricker led the field for scrambling when tying for 2nd at Southwind twelve months ago and he will be oozing confidence after qualifying for the US Open, which will be held at Erin Hills in his home state of Wisconsin next week.
Stricker was a medallist in a qualifying event at Germantown Country Club as he secured his place in the field for the second major of the year and we expect him to build on that showing, with the twelve-time PGA Tour winner a stand-out figure in this field.
Tip #2: Steve Stricker (each way) @ 50/1 with Paddy Power.
Ian Poulter opted to swerve a 36-hole US Open qualifying event in Memphis earlier this week in favour of going for a high finish at the St Jude Classic as he bids to secure his place at Erin Hills. The Englishman is currently 81st in the world rankings and needs to push himself into the top-60 to qualify for the US Open.
As he has shown at the Ryder Cup in the past, Poulter is at his best with everything on the line and his recent form is encouraging, with highlights including a tie for 11th at the RBC Heritage and a tie for 2nd at The Players, while he did tie 6th on his last appearance at the St Jude in 2014.
Tip #3: Ian Poulter (each way) @ 50/1 with Betfred.
Finally, Davis Love III may be getting on in years but he does have a decent record at TPC Southwind as he has missed just one cut in six visits, securing four top-25 finishes in the process. It is a long shot but Love has been inside the top-five of the leaderboard after the first round in four of his six appearances at TPC Southwind, which includes a first round scoring average of 67.50, and he is a massive 150/1 to be first round leader this week.
Tip #4: Davis Love III first round leader (each way) @ 150/1 with Ladbrokes.
