Honda Classic Golf Odds Has Paul Casey Well Priced

2009 Honda Classic winner, Ye Yang of Korea sent out a warning to the rest of the field last week when finishing third in the Phoenix Open, behind eventual winner, Hunter Mahan. Yang who went on of course to take his first ‘Major’ last year too, when he was the surprise winner of the PGA Championship, he has clearly struck form as he bids to defend his crown and with odds of 33/1 on him doing so, offered by Bet365 he looks a very reasonable bet indeed.

Amongst the Favourites is England’s Lee Westwood, who has climbed to number four in the world rankings. Westwood has played four tournaments so far this year and has enjoyed a second place in the Dubai Desert Classic and a tied third in the Qatar Masters. He was knocked out in the second round of the recent WGC Matchplay. Westwood has odds of 16/1 and shares favouritism ahead of the tournament with Rory McIlroy from N Ireland and Robert Allenby from Australia. In fact the betting has a strange feel to it as there are no American golfers in the top ten in the outright win market.

Allenby will be the choice of many to win this week, he tied fifth in this event last year, with four very consistent rounds, suggesting that he can handle this course. Although beaten by compatriot Ian Poulter in the WGC Matchplay Final, Paul Casey, showed some great form throughout that tournament. We think he may well be the man to beat this week and would back him on an each way basis at his current best price of 20/1.
