West Brom v Everton Odds: Double result looks tempting in the betting

The live lunchtime kick-off on New Year's Day is a mid-table Premier League clash as West Brom welcome Everton to the Hawthorns. Both sides have enjoyed an upturn in form of late and there is little to choose between them in the match odds, as West Brom are priced 13/8 and Everton 17/10, with the draw looking a good punt at 11/5 with William Hill.

Ninth placed West Brom will be buoyant after they managed to hold freescoring Manchester City to a goalless draw on Boxing Day. It was a fine defensive effort from Roy Hodgson's side as they extended their unbeaten run to three matches and they will be keen to improve their home record.

They have won just twice at the Hawthorns this term and are the lowest scorers in the league on home soil. It is no surprise that under 2.5 goals is priced 13/20 odds on, particularly as each of Everton's last six matches have involved under 2.5.

Goals could be difficult to come by on Sunday, although Peter Odemwingie will look to continue his return to form and fitness after scoring two in his last three, with Hills pricing him 6/1 to score first. West Brom have scored the highest percentage of goals in the first half of all teams in the top flight (63%) and they look a decent punt to score first.

However, Everton have scored the highest percentage of goals in the second half of matches (72%), which makes the double result of a half time West Brom win and full time draw look extremely good value at odds of 14/1 with WilliamHill.com. Furthermore, Hills go 11/5 that the time of the first Everton goal is in the 46th minute or over.

Tenth placed Everton are without Jack Rodwell again this weekend, while Marouane Fellaini and Seamus Coleman are doubts. They are unbeaten in their last three matches though and we fancy they can come away with a point from their visit to the Midlands.

They have only won twice in ten attempts on New Year's Day and have lost three and failed to score in three of the last five West Brom v Everton matches at the Hawthorns. Their away form has been decent this term as they have won three so far and it is well worth remembering that they have played at Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle.

A penalty could be in store on their visit to the Hawthorns as West Brom have conceded four penalties in their last five at home, with Hills offering 9/2 for a penalty to be awarded on Sunday. Meanwhile, there were three red cards in the two meetings between West Brom and Everton last season, while the controversial Stuart Attwell is set to referee the match after showing a red card in each of his last three matches, with William Hill offering best priced odds of 10/3 for there to be a sending off.

There is little to choose between the two sides in the odds and the draw could be the way to go, with the correct score of 1-1 available at 11/2.
