Winless West Brom Can Add To Arsenal's Away Day Frustrations

West Bromwich Albion will look to halt an eighteen-match winless run in the Premier League when they welcome Arsenal to The Hawthorns and the Baggies look decent value to get something out of a fixture that they have tended to enjoy in recent times...

  • Alan Pardew hasn't tasted success against Arsenal since 2006
  • West Brom have drawn six of their past nine home league games - lost three
  • West Brom have gone 18 matches without a win - drawn nine, lost nine

West Bromwich Albion v Arsenal
Tips The Draw    Best Bet @ 3 / 1

Head-To-Head

The Black Country side have only lost one of the last five West Brom v Arsenal matches played at The Hawthorns, winning each of the last two in a row, and while it might be ambitious to back them for the outright win at 4/1, they are capable of claiming at least a point against a Gunners side that don't travel well.

Arsene Wenger's men beat Crystal Palace 3-2 on Thursday night to claim only their third away win of the campaign and they have already dropped points at the likes of Stoke, Watford, Southampton and West Ham this season.

The Gunners have had less than 72 hours to prepare for this trip to The Hawthorns and they make little appeal at 8/11 odds-on (Bet 365), even against this West Brom side, and Wenger's record-breaking 811th Premier League game as manager could end in disappointment.
Match Odds:

Lack Of Goals

The hosts haven't won in the league since August, drawing nine and losing nine, but there has been an improvement in their play - if not their results - since Alan Pardew was appointed manager.

The Baggies have only scored 10 goals in their past 18 games so it is obvious where there problems lie but they have proven to be a tough nut to crack defensively on home soil, drawing six of their last nine at The Hawthorns.

With that in mind, the draw at 3/1 (Bet 365) could be worth a look and for those who fancy West Brom to end their winless run, the 16/13 for them to win or draw in the 'double chance' market (Unibet) is a nice cover bet.

The big threat from Arsenal is likely to come from a resurgent Alexis Sanchez, who has timed his return to for nicely with the opening of the transfer window in a few days. The Chilean has scored six in his past nine league outings and he is 4/1 to be first goalscorer (Paddy Power) after notching three in his past four appearances against West Brom.
