Manchester United host Norwich at Old Trafford in the Premier League this Saturday. United have now drawn two on the bounce in all competitions but will be confident of picking up a victory when they face the Canaries. Unibet make United firm favourites in the match odds at 1/7 while a Norwich win is 14/1 and a draw priced at 13/2.
Man United hit their first stumbling block in the Premier League last weekend when they travelled to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke City and came away with a 1-1 draw. Wayne Rooney was ruled out of the match after picking up a groin injury and then the injury list worsened 10 minutes into the game when Javier Hernandez had to be substituted after picking up a dead leg in a challenge.
United’s list of absentees is one of the worst in the Premier League at the moment and the depth of their squad in being tested. Sir Alex Ferguson put out a side in the Champions League midweek with a lot of quality players but they still could only manage a 3-3 draw at home against Basel. United looked a little bit flat throughout the game and the ferocious energy they started the season with seems to have been sapped out of them already.
With United’s two recognised starting strikers missing, it is up to Danny Welbeck, Ashley Young and Nani to provide the attacking threat. It is a positive for Ferguson that these three players have started their seasons brilliantly and can do a lot of damage when they line out on Saturday.
Norwich are coming off the back of great 2-1 victory over Sunderland at Carrow Road which puts them up into 9th in the table with eight points taken from six matches. Paul Lambert’s side have now won two matches in a row after defeating Bolton 2-1 in the Reebok a couple of weeks ago, and there is a real belief within the team they can put together the performances and get the results that would keep them up. They do, however, face an absolutely monumental task when they head to Old Trafford on Saturday, a venue where United only dropped two points all of last year.
In the betting for the game, Man United should have way too much for Norwich and come away with the win but their match odds don’t offer much value. A better bet would be to back United in the halftime/fulltime market at 5/11 with Unibet. In United’s last two matches at home they have scored three goals in each of the first halves and had the games wrapped up by the break. Also, although United are missing some key attacking players, they still should be able to put a few past against a Norwich defence who have conceded a goal in every one of their competitive fixtures so far this season.
