Everton welcome West Bromwich Albion to Goodison Park for their latest Premier League fixture on Wednesday night. The Toffees are looking to strengthen their bid for a top-four finish and new signing Leroy Fer could make his debut, while West Brom are looking to arrest a poor run of form that has seen them go from top-four challengers to mid-table mediocrity.
The Baggies are winless in their last six outings and it is no surprise to see that they start underdogs in the match odds this week. They are priced 5/1 by Betfred, who offer 3/1 for the draw, while Everton are 3/5 odds on favourites for a game they would expect to win on home soil.
David Moyes' side have lost only one of 12 matches in all competitions at Goodison Park this season and their top-four hopes received a significant boost when they announced the signing of Leroy Fer at the beginning of the week. The Dutch midfielder is in line for his debut on Wednesday and he will be looking to help Nikica Jelavic find some scoring form.
Jelavic, who is 4/1 favourite to score first, has scored just one goal in his last nine appearances and Moyes has admitted that he may have to take his star striker out of the firing line. Victor Anichebe is likely to be given another chance to impress though and he has a fine record in Everton v West Brom fixtures. Lukaku's team-mate Peter Odemwingie has been far from his best this season though and he has hardly helped morale at the club with his persistent talk of wanting a move to QPR. The striker's public outburst has given manager Steve Clarke a problem he doesn't need after watching his team take just one point from a possible 12 in the league.
They have lost four of their last five away league games and they are yet to keep a clean sheet on the road this season. That recent form will be a real concern, despite the fact they sit comfortably in upper mid-table, and they might find Everton on home soil to be too good. Betfred offer 7/1 for Everton to win 2-1 and that could be worth a look as they look to maintain their push for that top-four place and seal Champions League football for next season.
