Chelsea v Tottenham Odds: Back Malouda to score anytime for in form Blues

Click here for the latest odds and betting preview for the Chelsea v Tottenham match on Saturday 24th March 2012.

Saturday's live late Premier League kick off could be a defining moment in both Chelsea and Tottenham's seasons. Chelsea are 1/2 favourites and desperate for a win at Stamford Bridge as they hang on to the coattails of Manchester United at the top of the table, while Spurs need a win as they struggle to keep pace with Man City for a fourth place finish. Paddy Power make Spurs huge outsiders at odds of 6/1, with the draw available at 3/1.

Second placed Chelsea are six points behind United and travel to the league leaders next weekend. Nothing but a win will do on Saturday and they look well set to pick up three more points and extend their nine match unbeaten run in the League. They are top of the form table for the past eight matches and Fernando Torres could be ready to return to form and justify his £50 million price tag.

Torres finally broke his duck with a goal in the 3-0 win over West Ham last weekend and a weight looked to have been lifted from the Spaniard's shoulders. He is a very tempting industry best 9/2 to be first goalscorer with PaddyPower.com and that could be well worth a look, while Florent Malouda was also on the scoresheet last weekend to make it four in four for him and took his tally to 13 in the league. Malouda has scored 11 of those at Stamford Bridge and he could be a good punt to score anytime at 15/8.

Chelsea could be without the injured Ramires and Alex on Saturday, although Michael Essien should be fit. Carlo Ancelotti's side have had little trouble in front of goal of late, scoring in each of their last eight and their last three have each involved over 2.5 goals.

It is a similar tale for Spurs whose last three games have involved over 15 goals and over 2.5 this weekend is 8/13 on, with both teams to score priced 4/6. Harry Redknapp's team can ill afford to drop points as they sit in fifth place, four points behind Man City, and the dream of Champions League football for next season is fading fast.

It doesn't bode well for Spurs that they have failed to win at Stamford Bridge in 21 years and have won only one of their last nine in all competitions. Spurs did manage a 1-1 draw against Chelsea earlier in the season thanks to a Heurelho Gomes penalty save, and that was the second penalty awarded in the last two meetings, so it could be worth a look at a penalty being awarded on Saturday at odds of 17/2.

Spurs will be without Ledley King, Alan Hutton and Johnathan Woodgate and despite losing only one of six matches against the top four sides they have failed to beat the lower teams, as was highlighted by the 2-2 draw with West Brom last time out. Roman Pavlyuchenko finally got on the scoresheet after starting four matches in a row and he could be worth backing at 11/4 to score anytime with Paddy Power.

We fancy Chelsea on current form will extend the title battle for another week at least and could well end Spurs top four hopes in the process, with the Chelsea win by a margin of two goals available at odds of 7/2 or the correct score of 3-1 at 12/1 could provide interest.
