The Carling Nations Cup finishes with a final match decider on Sunday as Republic of Ireland take on Scotland at the Aviva Stadium in a winner takes all match. Ireland top the table on goal difference at the moment and only need a draw to win the inaugural tournament, and Victor Chandler make them 10/11 favourites to take three points.
But we fancy the look of a draw at 12/5 with both sides in decent nick, with Scotland available at 14/5. It could be worth hedging your bets and going for the double chance of a draw or Scotland win at very reasonable odds of 4/5.
Ireland eased to the top of the table with a crushing 5-0 win over a dismal Northern Ireland side to follow up their 3-0 win over Wales earlier in the tournament. It was their fifth consecutive match over 2.5 goals and with Scotland's last five also involving over 2.5, a punt on there being more than 2.5 goals this weekend looks good at 21/20 with Victor Chandler.
Giovanni Trappatoni's side have actually scored first in five of their last six matches so it could pay dividends to take a look at the Irish players in the first goalscorer market. Robbie Keane scored two in mid-week to make it three goals in two appearances for his country and despite his indifferent form in the Premier League for West Ham at the back end of the season he leads the way to score first at 5/1.
His strike partner Simon Cox made a goalscoring international debut against Northern Ireland and he is a tempting 11/2 to score first or 6/4 to score anytime. Cox is likely to start again this weekend with the likes of Shane Long and Noel Hunt on Championship play-off duty with Reading.
Scotland meanwhile have been in decent form of late, although they have conceded first in five of their last seven matches. They produced a strong second half showing to beat Wales 3-1 earlier this week and that was their second win from two in the competition after they beat Northern Ireland 3-0.
Kenny Miller was on the scoresheet once again as he made it two goals in his last three appearances for Scotland and he has been in decent form with five goals from fourteen matches for Turkish side Bursaspor. He is virtually a shoe-in to start on Sunday and he is available at 13/2 to score first with VictorChandler.com, while the same bookmaker offers 8/5 for Miller to score anytime.
Scotland and Ireland have each won three of their last four matches and we fancy they could cancel each other out this weekend. The correct score of 1-1 is available at 11/2 and the double result of a half time and full time draw is priced 17/4 as Ireland look to gain the point that would seal Carling Nations Cup glory.
