The game that every England fan did not want against Germany this coming Sunday in Bloemfontein is set to break football viewing figures with almost every household in the UK expected to tune in. Defeat for either side at this stage in the World Cup is of course unthinkable, but only one team will emerge to take their place in the Quarter Finals. That team apparently, according to most Bookmakers, at least will be England, who have been made the narrowest of favourites. Best price for an England victory in fact is offered by Paddy Power who have them at 17/10, with Germany at 7/4 with the dreaded draw at 21/10.

To win the match however, England will have to ‘pull out all the stops’ against a German side that will include striker Miroslav Klose who will be back from suspension. Unsurprisingly Klose is favourite from the German team to score the first goal of the match with odds of 7/1 but favourite overall is England’s Wayne Rooney at 11/2, who has still yet to find his scoring boots in South Africa.
England v Germany World Cup, Last 16 Odds Comparison
England boss, Fabio Capello is likely to stick with Jermaine Defoe up front with Rooney, but it is likely that he will recall Ledley King to partner John Terry at the back. Defoe of course scored England’s only goal in their Group C win against Slovenia and played a positive role throughout in England’s much improved performance in that match. He is not without his supporters too to score the opener in this match and can be backed at 15/2 with Paddy power to do so.
Most England fans will be wary of this game going into extra time with the dreaded penalty shoot out to follow. Germany have come out on top in this department against England on the last two big tournament occasions, but the Bookmakers seem quite content to offer odds of around 17/2 for either side to win by this method.
As far as the match score is concerned, it is almost certain to be a close affair, with probably one goal being the difference between the two teams at the end of the match, punters therefore can take their pick from the following betting options:

For our money, we think that provided England can keep the likes of the German danger men quiet, such as Klose, Podolski and Ozil, they have enough power and midfield drive to win the game. Rooney was showing signs against Slovenia that he is getting back to form, which, should he do so, could easily become the English hero. We will go for a double up at around 18/1 with paddy power on an England win by 2-1 after extra time, with Rooney being on the scoresheet at least once.
17/10 England
7/4 Germany
21/10 Draw
