Spurs v Everton Betting Indicates Defoe As Candidate To Score First

With only one Premier League defeat since the end of November, Everton travel to White Hart Lane this Sunday to take on a Spurs side who have great aspirations to finish the season with a fourth place finish.

The Bookmakers believe, quite strongly, that Spurs will take the points however and most quote them at around 10/11 odds on, with the draw at 12/5 and an Everton victory a 3/1 shot.

The two sides fought out a 2-2 draw the last time they met in December, but Everton had to be thankful for a late comeback after being 0-2 down. Louis Saha and Tim Cahill scored late goals in that game to earn the Toffees a share of the points and both are amongst the favourites to get a goal in this game. Indeed they are both well priced by Ladbrokes in fact to score the first goal of the game, with Saha at 7/1 and Cahill at 9/1. Favourite however in this market is Spurs main man, Jermaine Defoe with odds of 7/2 with Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko next best at 6/1.

Although it seems unlikely, the Everton boss, David Moyes will know that this game offers his team a last chance of getting amongst the top four themselves. A win in this match will leave them 5 points adrift of 4th placed Spurs, but they will have a game in hand, which, if they should win, would put them right in the mix. This will be a great incentive for Everton this weekend.

Spurs on the other hand will realise that any slip up during these final weeks of the season could cost them everything that they have striven for so far, particularly with the battle for fourth place being so close. It is for those two reasons that we think that this game will end up a draw, but probably a draw with goals in. As stated above, they shared 4 goals earlier this season which to us seems a very likely outcome again here and with odds of 14/1 offered by Ladbrokes the bet becomes a very tempting proposition indeed.
