Wolves v Man City Odds: Back Edin Dzeko in the betting to score first

Click here for the latest odds and betting preview for the Man City v Wolves match on Saturday 29th October 2011.

Manchester City will bid to continue their rampant start to the season when they take on Wolves at Molineux on Wednesday night. The Carling Cup fourth round tie sees City start as 1/2 odds on favourites with Paddy Power, while Wolves are priced 6/1 as they prepare for back-to-back matches against City.

Wolves have been on a woeful run of form and the fact that they face City on Wednesday and again in the league at the weekend will do little to inspire confidence. They come up against Roberto Mancini's free-scoring unit, who have scored 40 goals in 14 matches this season.

Mancini has thrown off the shackles and it is no surprise that over 2.5 goals is 8/13 on this week, particularly as their last four have witnessed over 2.5, as have five of Wolves' last six. For a touch more value it could be worth a punt on over 3.5 goals at 13/8 as this Wolves defence has looked far from secure.

They were outplayed for much of their 2-2 draw with Swansea in the Premier League at the weekend and Mick McCarthy was lambasted by fans for his substitutions during the match. McCarthy's changes actually hauled Wolves back from 2-0 down and Nenad Milijas in particular was excellent. Milijas looks an interesting bet to score first this week as he is priced 22/1 by Paddy Power and that could be decent each-way value as he scored two in two appearances against City last season.

Wolves have managed to score seventeen goals in their last five matches in the Carling Cup, while City have scored in eighteen of their last nineteen matches in the competition, with both teams to score on Wednesday currently 4/6 on.

McCarthy is likely to be without Steve Fletcher and Ronald Zubar again this weekend and the loss of Fletcher in particular would be a key blow.

Wolves' problems are in stark contrast to City as they have an embarrassment of riches at their disposal, and Mancini could well opt to rest a few players this week. Edin Dzeko should get a chance to start and he is available at odds of 7/2 to score first with PaddyPower.com.

Dzeko has scored four goals in his last three appearances for club and country, while the mercurial Mario Balotelli is also priced 7/2 and he has been on fire with six goals in his last five outings.

A feature of City's 6-1 win over bitter rivals Manchester United on Sunday was the stunning trio of goals in the final minutes. There have now been seven goals scored after the 75th minute in City's last six matches and PaddyPower offer 10/11 that a goal is scored in the last 15 minutes on Wednesday.

City come up against a Wolves team who have won just one of their last five at Molineux, that against Millwall, and who had lost five in a row before their draw with Swansea. City can be backed at 6/5 to win with a handicap of -1 goal as they bid to reach the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup for only the third time in eleven years.
