Martin O'Neill is the odds on favourite to replace Sven Goran Eriksson at Leicester City after the Swede left his post by mutual consent on Monday night. William Hill price O'Neill as the 2/5 on favourite to take the reins at the Walkers Stadium, with Mark Hughes, Billy Davies and Nigel Worthington also in the mix.
Eriksson fell on his sword after overseeing a mediocre start to the Championship season with Leicester as his side managed to win only five of thirteen matches. Eriksson made plenty of additions to the squad during his 13 months at the club as the likes of Curtis Davies, Matt Mills, Kasper Schmeichel and David Nugent were signed, but Eriksson won't get the chance to guide them to the Premier League.
Martin O'Neill is of course a former Leicester City manager as he guided them to promotion to the Premier League during his time there from 1995 to 2000, and also won the League Cup twice during that time. They seem like heady days for Leicester and O'Neill would no doubt be the fans' first choice to replace Eriksson.
The Northern Irishman has been out of a job since leaving Aston Villa under a cloud at the start of last season and many assumed that he would go on to a bigger job, but that hasn't materialised and he might jump at the chance to guide Leicester back to the top flight of English football.
Mark Hughes is another manager who it was assumed would go on to a bigger Premier Leaguejob after he left Fulham last year. However, he too has found work hard to come by and Hills price him 5/1 to be next Leicester manager, although he would have to decide whether the job matches his recently announced 'ambition'.
Billy Davies is also available at odds of 5/1 after doing a fine job on a shoe-string budget at Leicester's rivals Nottingham Forest. Davies took Forest close to promotion from the Championship but fell just short and it remains to be seen whether Leicester fans would welcome the arrival of a former Forest manager.
Elsewhere, Nigel Worthington is available at 16/1 with WilliamHill.com after he left his role as Northern Ireland manager. Worthington was actually caretaker manager of Leicester at the back end of the 2007 season and he guided City to safety away from relegation from the Championship, although they opted to appoint Martin Allen permanently for the following season.
Roy Keane is also well fancied at 16/1 despite failing to impress as manager during spells with Sunderland and Ipswich, while Barnsley manager and former Leicester City striker Mark Robins is a 16/1 punt.
There were also some considerable movers in the next Leicester manager betting as Rafa Benitez was clipped right in to 9/1 and Alan Shearer was shortened to 16/1.
2/5 Martin O'Neill
5/1 Mark Hughes
5/1 Billy Davies
9/1 Rafa Benitez
16/1 Nigel Worthington
16/1 Alan Shearer
16/1 Mark Hughes
16/1 Mark Robins
20/1 Alan Curbishley
20/1 Dave Jones
20/1 Gianfranco Zola
20/1 Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
20/1 Carlo Ancelotti
20/1 Didier Deschamps
