Brentford v Chelsea Odds: Lampard can fire Blues to a fourth round win
There is live FA Cup fourth round action at midday on Sunday as Brentford welcome Chelsea to a packed Griffin Park. The League One side will be looking to upset the odds and take advantage of Chelsea's recent woe, while Rafa Benitez can ill-afford his side to go out of another cup competition after their shock loss to Swansea in the Capital One Cup.
Benitez's side lost 2-0 on aggregate to Swansea after they failed to find a way past the Welsh side in a semi-final match that was overshadowed by Eden Hazard's altercation with a ball boy on Wednesday. They are 2/7 odds on to bounce back with a win with Coral this weekend though, while Brentford are 10/1 to cause an upset and 4/1 to force a replay with a draw.
Brentford are riding high in League One currently as they sit in third place and are pushing hard for promotion to the Championship. They have only lost one of their last 11 matches in all competitions and they have been particularly impressive at Griffin Park where they have lost only two of 17 home games.
They have only failed to score twice at home all season and they will fancy their chances of nicking a goal against their illustrious opponents, with both teams to score currently priced evens. Clayton Donaldson is their obvious goal threat as the striker has scored 19 goals this season, including four in his last four. He will be keen to catch the eye in front of the television cameras and he is 10/1 to score first or 7/2 to score anytime.
The problem for Brentford is the fact that Chelsea have actually been better in away matches than at home under Rafa Benitez. The toxic atmosphere that has overshadowed Benitez's tenure at Stamford Bridge has done little to help their home form and they now sit in third place in the Premier League table, 11 points adrift of Manchester United.
Chelsea remain an impressive unit on the road though as they have won five of their last six away games, scoring four goals or more on three occasions. They are even-money to score over 2.5 goals in the latest betting with Coral for Sunday and they boast a wealth of attacking talent, with Demba Ba currently a best price 3/1 favourite to score first.
For a touch more value it could be worth a look at Frank Lampard at 11/2 and the England midfielder is looking to extend a fine recent run of scoring form. Lampard has scored six goals in his last 10 appearances, while he has a fine record in the FA Cup having scored six goals and set up four more in his last nine appearances in the competition, with Coral offering a tempting 9/1 he scores two or more on Sunday.
Lampard, who is unlikely to be offered a new contract at Chelsea, will be keen to end his time at the club with a good run in this competition and it bodes well that Chelsea have won 15 of their last 16 fourth round ties. They have only lost one of the last 35 FA Cup games outright and they are 9/1 to win this weekend's match by a 3-1 scoreline.
