Spain and Switzerland will meet in the final of the European Under 21 Championship at the Aarhus Arena in Denmark on Saturday, and despite the odds suggesting Spain have got it sown up, we fancy it could be a tight and cagey affair. Ladbrokes make Spain 1/2 on to win the match, but there looks to be some decent value to be had with the draw after 90 minutes at 12/5 and even the Swiss win at 5/1.
Both sides are unbeaten in the tournament so far and while the Spaniards have impressed with their expansive passing game, Switzerland have earned plaudits for their discipline and organisation.
Pre-tournament favourites Spain have scored nine goals in the tournament already and Atletico Madrid's new signing leads the way with five of those goals. He has been in fine form and is hot favourite at 7/2 to score first on Saturday.
However, Spain have shown a vulnerable side to their game when only drawing 1-1 with a poor England side and then needing an 89th minute equaliser against Belarus, before going on to win 3-1 in the semi-final.
Switzerland could take advantage if those same Spanish vulnerabilities are shown on Saturday as they have won all four of their matches so far and have only suffered one defeat in their last 14 matches. They welcome Granit Xhaka back from suspension this weekend, although Francois Affolte is out with injury, as they gear up for their country's first final appearance at this level.
Much will depend on top scorer Admir Mehmedi, after the striker notched his third goal of the tournament by scoring an extra time winner against many people's tip for the title, the Czech Republic, in the semi-final. Mehmedi is available at very tempting odds of 8/1 to score first on Saturday or 5/2 to score anytime with Ladbrokes.com.
It is defensively that both Spain and Switzerland have been hugely impressive though and under 2.5 goals is currently 8/11 on. Spain have conceded only two goals in the tournament so far and have only conceded more than one goal in a match once in the last thirteen, with the Spanish clean sheet available at 11/10.
Switzerland meanwhile are yet to concede a goal in the tournament and another clean sheet for the Swiss can be backed at odds of 7/2.
It could be a tense and cagey affair as finals often are, and this could go all the way with the draw after 90 minutes our tip at odds of 12/5. The correct score of 1-1 is a 5/1 punt and from there it is anyone's game, with Switzerland available at a juicy 20/1 to win after extra time. Also, the 3/1 on offer for Switzerland to win the tournament outright looks decent value as they look to upset the odds.
