Sunderland v Everton Odds: Bookies back a low scoring Premiership match

There is very little to choose between Sunderland and Everton ahead of their live Monday night Premier League match at the Stadium of Light. Steve Bruce's men stunned league leaders Chelsea last weekend and should be brimming with confidence, and Victor Chandler have them at odds of 7/4 to claim the win. Everton's odds of winning are also 7/4 despite succumbing to Arsenal last time out, and the draw is at 23/10.

Seventh placed Sunderland have had quite a month, losing 5-1 to their bitter North East rivals Newcastle before going on a three match unbeaten run that has seen them beat Stoke 2-0, draw 1-1 with Tottenham and hammer Chelsea 3-0. The manner of their most recent win against the reigning Premier League champions at Stamford Bridge was hugely impressive and they could be boosted further by the return of star striker Darren Bent who recently returned to training after injury.

Bent could partner Asamoah Gyan up front, and Gyan has shouldered much of the goalscoring burden in his first season in the Premier League following his summer move. Gyan is at odds of 17/4 with VCBet to score the first goal on Monday night and that looks a decent bet when you consider he has scored six already after adapting quickly to the English game.

Sunderland, who are unbeaten at home and have kept three clean sheets in their last three home games, will be without John Mensah, Frazer Campbell and David Meyler through injury. But Danny Welbeck and Anton Ferdinand should be fit.

Everton were expected to kick on this season after several seasons of challenging for a top four spot in the Premier League, but they are sixteenth in the league and have struggled to hit the back of the net with any kind of regularity. They have managed just 14 goals in the league and subsided to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in their last league match.

They had been unbeaten in seven matches before the Arsenal defeat and David Moyes will be hoping that one of his strikers can spark into life with some goals. They have not lost in 12 matches against Sunderland, winning 10, and it is midfielder Tim Cahill who is their top scorer. Everton will be without the suspended Marouane Fellaini, and the injured Leon Osman, Victor Anichebe and Ross Barkley for the trip to the North East.
