Manchester City v Liverpool Odds: Rely on Tevez to Score and City to Win

The two Premier League teams, arguably under the most pressure this season, Manchester City and Liverpool, go head to head this coming Monday night in what could be an absolute epic of a match. The Bookmakers err in favour of a City win, with best odds of 7/5 available via VC Bet who quote Liverpool at 85/40 and the draw at 11/5.

Roberto Mancini has been spoiled with the amount of money he has had invested in him to buy a star studded team and he has been very busy taking advantage. One of his new players, striker, Mario Balotelli, took just about ten minutes to make his mark with his new club, coming off the bench to score the winning goal in the 1-0 away win at FC Timisoara, in the Europa League qualifier last Thursday. Whether or not Mancini will put Balotelli in the starting line up against the Reds or not remains to be seen, but already the Bookmakers make him an 8/1 chance to open the scoring in the match. Favourite in that particular market in fact is Carlos Tevez at 6/1, while a second new boy, who looks sure to make his debut, James Milner, looks a very tempting bet at 14/1.

2010/11 Premier League Odds Comparisons

City started their league campaign with an acceptable 0-0 draw away against big rivals Spurs last week at White Hart Lane and a drawn outcome seems the place to look in this match, particularly after five of the last seven meetings between the two sides has ended that way.

Man City v Liverpool LIVE on Sky Sports 1 @ 2000 on 23 August

Liverpool, who started their campaign off with 1-1 draw at Anfield against Arsenal’ last week, will no doubt be aggrieved that they threw points away and will not want to lose any further ground in the title race by giving anything away in this match. They will of course be without the suspended Joe Cole and Danish defender, Daniel Agger is also a doubt following a minor head injury. Martin Skrtel will almost certainly come in for Agger in an otherwise unchanged back four. Liverpool are however likely to replace David Ngog as the lone striker as ‘El Nino’ otherwise known as Fernando Torres is looking very keen to regain in his place in the team. Torres is 13/2 to be the opening scorer of the match, but we think punters might be better off backing him at 6/4 with VC Bet.com to just simply score on the night.

In midfield, it looks certain that Gerrard, Mascherano and Kuyt, will start with two from either Poulsen, Lucas and Jovanovic, making up the team.

We have already mentioned that the two teams have drawn five from the last seven encounters, but the pressure on both sides to win the match is much more important this season, which is why we think that it will be Man City victorious at the end of the 90 minutes. Their squad is looking ridiculously strong and with home advantage we think they are capable of finishing at least 1 goal better than Liverpool. A 2-1 outcome with odds of 15/2 from Victor Chandler.com look too good to be true and would be the scoreline we would expect and back! Other Correct Score Betting Options are listed below.
