Manchester United v West Ham Odds Say Utd Will Bounce Straight Back

Manchester United take on West Ham this week at Old Trafford in what has become a ‘must win’ match for them, particularly if they still have Premier League title aspirations. Defeat last weekend at Everton cost them vital ground to Chelsea, who now sit 4 points clear at the top. Manager, Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that his side looked jaded against Everton, but was confident that they can bounce straight back, even during this very busy schedule.

Certainly the Bookmakers are confident that they will win this match, some quoting them as short as 1/6 odds on to win, while others such as Paddy Power have them more reasonably priced at 1/5, with West Ham at a massive 15/1 and the draw at 5/1.

West Ham will not want to be reminded of the score the last time the two teams met at Upton Park in early December; United won that game 4-0 and played without recognised central defenders for much of the match. A repeat of that scoreline is not beyond the realms of possibility in this either, indeed, a United 4-0 win can be backed at 9/1, once again with Paddypower.

West Ham have at least picked themselves up following an appalling start to their league campaign and have moved outside the relegation danger area for the first time this season. This is due to an excellent 3-0 win last weekend against Hull, which followed on from an equally excellent win 2-0 win over Birmingham City last week. England striker, Carlton Cole was on the score sheet in both of these matches and is therefore a reasonably good bet to score against United with odds of 16/5.
