Tottenham v Chelsea Betting: Spurs favourites for crucial clash

Tottenham can serve notice of their Premier League title ambitions when they take on fellow title hopefuls Chelsea in the live Thursday night match. Spurs have a fine record against the Blues at White Hart Lane and start as 6/4 favourites in the match betting, while Chelsea are priced 17/10, with the draw available at 12/5 with William Hill.

Third placed Spurs will have two games in hand on Manchester City and Manchester United before kick off on Thursday and surely only victory this week will do. Harry Redknapp has been quick to build up his side's title chances and why not after his side won their last six matches at home.

Redknapp is without Aaron Lennon this week, while Jermain Defoe is a doubt, but Gareth Bale should be fit. They will no doubt look to continue their exciting attacking style of play, which has seen them score in every league match at White Hart Lane this term. Furthermore, thirteen of their sixteen matches have involved over 2.5 goals and Thursday promises to be an exciting spectacle.

Over 2.5 goals this week is 8/11 on, while both teams to score is priced 6/10, even though Spurs have kept three clean sheets in a row at home. Chelsea are likely to offer more attacking threat than Spurs have faced in recent weeks and for a bit more value it could be worth a punt on the 'match x goals' market, with WilliamHill.com offering 5/2 for Spurs to win the match and over 2.5 goals.

Emmanuel Adebayor has proved to be a shrewd signing for Spurs, scoring eight goals this term, and he has banged in five goals in his last five outings. In the last four matches that he has scored he has notched the last goal, with Hills going 11/2 for him to be last goalscorer on Thursday.

Spurs are unbeaten in the last five Tottenham v Chelsea matches at White Hart Lane, although Chelsea still have title ambitions of their own. A 1-1 draw at Wigan on Saturday left them in fourth place and Andre Villas-Boas was left to reflect on yet more points dropped.

Interestingly four of the last six goals that Chelsea have conceded have come after the 85th minute and it could be worth a punt on a match goal to be scored between the 86th minute and full time at 21/10 with William Hill.

Daniel Sturridge was on the scoresheet at the weekend though and he continues to be the stand out player for Chelsea. He has scored eight goals this season, with five of those coming away from home, and he is 11/2 in the first scorer betting and 6/4 to score anytime.

However, Chelsea will be concerned that John Terry is a doubt for the match and the prospect of David Luiz taking his place in the centre of their defence will be a huge worry after some shaky displays in recent weeks.

We fancy Spurs should edge this match and put an end to Chelsea's title hopes, with the correct score of 2-1 priced 17/2, while the Spurs win by one goal can be backed at 16/5.
