Manchester United Odds On To Win The Europa League Following Semi Final Draw

Manchester United have moved into odds on favouritism for the Europa League as bookmakers cut their price further after the Red Devils were drawn to face Celta Vigo in the semi-finals...

  • Celta Vigo v Manchester United
  • Ajax v Lyon
  • Semi-Finals to be played on 4th and 11th May

Celta Vigo v Manchester United

The Europa League remains the one competition that has eluded Manchester United over the years but Jose Mourinho seems hell bent on going all the way as there is the added bonus of a place in next season's Champions League for the team that wins the Europa League.

The Premier League outfit were made to work hard by Anderlecht in the last-eight but they eventually came through to ensure they have now lost just two of their past 37 matches in all competitions, with Bet Victor going 10/11 for United to win the Europa League.

The Red Devils will come across some familiar faces in the semi-final as the former Liverpool man, Iago Aspas, plies his trade with Celta Vigo and has scored five goals in seven appearances in this season's Europa League, while former Manchester City striker, John Guidetti, will be looking to add to his tally of four goals in the competition.

Celta have knocked out Shakhtar Donetsk, Krasnodar and Genk to reach this point but the mid-table La Liga side are as long as 13/2 to go all the way (BetVictor.com).

Lyon v Ajax

The other semi-final is an intriguing clash as Ajax and Lyon prepare to meet in European competition once more. Ajax won 2-1 and 2-0 when they met in the group stages of the 2002 Champions League and they met more recently during the group phase of the 2011 competition, drawing both games 0-0.

It is difficult to envisage another goalless draw as Lyon have scored 19 goals during the knockout stages of this season's Europa League, knocking out Roma and Turkish League leaders Besiktas along the way.

They needed penalties to beat Besiktas but they are an impressive outfit and it is worth noting that they have won ten of their past twelve home games in all competitions.

Lyon, who are fourth in Ligue 1, are 9/4 to win the Europa League (Bet Victor bookmakers) ahead of their clash with Ajax, who have been in good form of late but the Dutch Eredivisie title challengers have won just one of six away games in the Europa League.
