Wigan v Liverpool Odds: Back a Reds win to nil at the DW Stadium

The live Wednesday night match sees struggling Wigan welcome top four chasing Liverpool to the DW Stadium. Unsurprisingly, Liverpool start the match as favourites, with Ladbrokes pricing them 1/2 odds on, while Wigan are 6/1 to cause an upset, with the draw available at 11/4.

Despite being entrenched in the relegation zone for much of the season, Wigan have only lost one of their last five matches and earned a hugely creditable 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the weekend. Jordi Gomez was once again on the scoresheet, as he made it four goals in his last five appearances, and he is a tempting 10/1 to be first scorer this week.

The form of Hugo Rodallega continues to be a huge concern though as he is yet to score this season, although he has scored in each of the last two Wigan v Liverpool matches at the DW Stadium and he is 8/1 to score first on Wednesday. However, the opposition has scored first in twelve of Wigan's sixteen matches, including in each of the last eleven.

With that in mind it could be worth a look at a Liverpool first scorer instead, with Luis Suarez the 7/2 favourite, although he is awaiting the outcome of his recent trial at the time of writing. Craig Bellamy could be a more interesting punt at 6/1 with Ladbrokes after his opener in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, with his pace likely to cause Wigan problems, as Daniel Sturridge did for Chelsea on Saturday.

Liverpool have been excellent away from home this season and Kenny Dalglish sets his side up impressively away from Anfield. They have won five away matches already this term and they look well set to add to that tally on Wednesday.

Six of Liverpool's eight away matches in the Premier League have involved under 2.5 goals, as have nine of their last ten home and away. Ladbrokes offer 5/6 for under 2.5 goals this week, while it could be worth a look at the 'quatro' of a Liverpool win and two or fewer goals in the match at odds of 23/10.

Wigan will do well to keep Liverpool out as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in thirteen matches, a run that stretches back to 27th August. In stark contrast, Liverpool have kept two clean sheets in a row in the league and three in four in all competitions. The Reds are 6/5 to keep a clean sheet against Wigan, while the win to nil is priced 6/4 by Ladbrokes.com.

Liverpool have coped impressively without the injured Steven Gerrard and Lucas Leiva lately and they should take three points to help their push for a top four place. Wigan have won only once at home all season in the league and have failed to take three points in their last six matches there.

Furthermore, Liverpool have lost only one of fourteen matches against Wigan and the 'correct score coupled' market could be worth a look, with the scores of 1-0 or 2-0 to Liverpool available at 11/5 with Ladbrokes.
