Newcastle v Wigan Odds: Pardew's men firm favourites to continue good form

Before the start of the season Newcastle were touted as a team that could struggle this year as they hadn’t re-invested in quality players after the sale of their big stars. Alan Pardew wasn’t the most active of managers in the transfer market due to financial constraints but it seems that he has still put a very decent side together.

Striker Demba Ba could prove yet to be one of the purchases of the season as he has already bagged five goals in seven games. New summer signing Yohan Cabaye in midfield looks like he will be an influential player for the Magpies this season and is already a fan favourite. Newcastle currently find themselves in the Champions League place, unusual territory for the side. The team are still unbeaten but many said there standing in the league was false and they would be found out against Spurs last weekend.

Newcastle passed their test after earning a good 2-2 draw at home to Harry Redknapp’s side. Newcastle once again showed great work-rate and commitment and they look as if they will be a very hard team to beat this season.

Newcastle in their current form should really have no problem in winning this game. Wigan have earned just one point on their travels in the league this season and they will find it difficult in front a packed St. James Park.
