Tottenham v Birmingham Odds: Spurs can push Blues towards relegation

Tottenham start as 4/7 odds on favourites when they welcome Birmingham to White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon. Fifth placed Spurs can clinch their Europa League place for next season with a win, while relegation haunted Birmingham desperately need points. The away side are woefully out of form and are 9/2 outsiders with Ladbrokes, while the draw can be backed at odds of 3/1.

It has been a horrendous turn of events for Alex McLeish's League Cup winners as the Blues have picked up only two league wins since winning their first major trophy in 48 years and have plunged down the table towards relegation. They are now seventeenth in the Premier League and current form allied with recent history suggests that they will be relying on results elsewhere to keep them in the division.

Birmingham have picked up just one point from five matches and have failed to win in six away, while their recent record against Spurs is poor - one win from six at White Hart Lane and just one clean sheet in thirteen Premier League meetings.

McLeish will be wondering where goals are going to come from as his side have the worst goalscoring record in the league with just 36 all season. Despite being defensively sound for much of the season, Birmingham have collapsed of late as they have conceded 19 in their last eight way matches and it doesn't bode well for Sunday that they have never kept a clean sheet on the final day of the season. Ladbrokes offer odds of 11/8 for only one team to score on Sunday and we fancy that team could be Spurs.

Spurs returned to form with a 2-0 win at Liverpool last weekend, which was their first win in six, although they have won five of their last six league matches at White Hart Lane. Jermain Defoe has been rumoured to want a move away from the club but he has scored two in his last two at the Lane and has five goals in eleven matches against Birmingham. Take into account the fact Birmingham have conceded first in their last five matches and Defoe to score first at 4/1 with Ladbrokes.com could be well worth a punt.

Harry Redknapp's Spurs are unbeaten in 16 league matches at home and despite a long injury list - Gallas, Jenas, Bale, Huddlestone, Assou-Ekotto, Hutton, Woodgate and Palacios are all out - we fancy they will pick up another three points against a Birmingham team that attracted headlines with their drinking antics earlier in the week.

The 2-0 correct score looks very tempting at 6/1 with Ladbrokes, and Birmingham could struggle for goals once again with Nikola Zigic likely to remain out with injury. The Blues could still stay up in defeat but a Spurs win looks a decent punt and the 'quatro' of Spurs to win with two goals or fewer in the match could provide value at 10/3.
