Fulham v Man City Betting: Mancini's men favourites to win tough match at Craven Cottage

Sunday afternoon's live game is unlikely to provide a flurry of goals as Fulham welcome Mark Hughes' former team Manchester City to Craven Cottage. Fourth placed Man City have been installed favourites at 7/5 with Bet365 in the betting, while Fulham are 11/5, and the draw is 21/10.

Mark Hughes will be keen to gain revenge over City who sacked him in acrimonious circumstances in December last season. The Welshman would have felt he had been dealt with harshly then and his mood is unlikely to be helped by the knowledge that his predecessor Roberto Mancini has managed to achieve the exact same points total as Hughes did at this stage last season.

Fulham are a hard team to beat under Hughes but have drawn eight league games this season which has left them hovering above the relegation zone in 16th position. They have only recorded one win in five matches and drew 0-0 with Newcastle last time out, while scoring goals has been something of an issue for them with Bobby Zamora out with a broken leg. They have scored 13 and conceded 13 so far this season, and it is Clint Dempsey who has caught the eye with five league goals and he is a 17/2 bet with Bet365.com to score first on Sunday.

Fulham welcome back Carlos Salcido for the visit of City, but Chris Baird is a doubt, and Moussa Dembele, Philipe Senderos and Bobby Zamora are definitely out.

City have been subject to some harsh criticism of late and Roberto Mancini has seen his odds of being the next Premier League manager to leave reduced. They are currently fourth place in the league but the owners who dealt with Hughes so harshly a year ago could be getting a bit twitchy following several poor performances that have brought just one win in five matches.

A 0-0 draw last time out against Birmingham at home was swiftly followed by boos and howls of derision from the Eastlands faithful, and with an away match on the horizon at Fulham Mancini is unlikely to abandon his defence-minded formation. He will probably play at least two defensive midfielders with Carlos Tevez ploughing a lone furrow up front, and Tevez has coped admirably so far, scoring 7 league goals this season and he is 9/2 to score first on Sunday with B365 in the betting.

Mario Balotelli is still suspended after his foolish sending off against West Brom, and there are doubts over Adebayor, and England pair Joleon Lescott and Micah Richards. But Joe Hart is fit after missing the England match, while Michael Johnson is still out.

It is unlikely to be a game of too many goals on Sunday as neither side has caught fire in front of goal this season, and the 1-1 draw looks a good bet especially as Fulham have drawn eight and City four so far. Mancini is unlikely to abandon his defensive mindset and formation and the correct score of 1-1 is 5/1 with Bet365 in the betting, and it would be a result that could increase the pressure on Mancini as they fall of the Premier League pace. Alternatively you can bet on there being less than 1.5 goals at 2/1 with Bet365.
