Manchester City v Notts County Betting: City huge Favourites to win FA Cup Replay

Notts County fans can get 14/1 from Boylesports for their side to dump big spending Manchester City out of the FA Cup in this fourth round replay at Eastlands on Sunday afternoon. The same Bookmakers has City as huge 2/11 odds on favourites in the betting to win the match with the draw a tempting 6/1 option. The winners will be rewarded with a home tie against Aston Villa in the fifth round.

In many respects, Paul Ince’s team can consider themselves unlucky not to have won the original tie on home soil, they led 1-0 with the City equaliser, scored by expensive new £27 million pound signing Edin Dzeko coming with just ten minutes left of the match. In overall terms they matched City in that first match, putting up a determined gritty display and creating several chances in the 90 minutes. There was an encouraging performance from the talented new signing Alan Gow and top scorer Lee Hughes kept the City back line honest with his busy presence. Their goal which was scored by midfielder Neal Bishop was well deserved at the time and will have given the League One side great encouragement ahead of this replay.

The FA Cup is most certainly a major target for City this season, who will want to better their performance of 2007 when they reached the quarter finals. There is no doubt however that City boss, Roberto Mancini will have been reminded that the club has not won the Cup since 1969 and have not been in the final for 30 years and that this season represents a profound opportunity to put the record straight. Mancini’s problem however is that he has so many players to choose from and has rarely put out a team this season that has completely dominated their opponents. They made hard work of defeating Leicester in the third round, where they were forced to go to a replay which means that this game is their fourth in the FA Cup this season and they are not yet into the fifth round proper.

With the Europa League second leg coming up against Aris in midweek, Mancini might in fact see this match as an opportunity to rest Carlos Tevez and play Dzeko up front with either one of David Silva, Mario Balotelli or Jo, whose first team chances have been fleeting so far this term. Tevez is as short as 7/4 in the betting to score the opening goal in this match, but the odds of 9/2 available from Boylesports against Silva or Jo beating him to it look far more appealing.

The FA Cup has often thrown up big shocks and whilst it looks impossible to see Notts County winning, it is not beyond them and fans can expect them to put up a strong display for which they could reap big rewards not least of which would include a home game against midlands rivals Aston Villa in the next round. However the reality is that City will prevail, probably not by much but perhaps a 3-1 win would be a reasonable bet, particularly with best industry odds of 11/1 on offer from Boyles.
