Man Utd v Crawley Odds: Back Hernandez to score first and break non league hearts in the betting

The FA Cup has thrown up a classic 'David v Goliath' fifth round tie for Saturday when Manchester United host non-league Crawley Town at Old Trafford in the live late kick off. The odds of Crawley producing the greatest giant killing in the history of the competition are as long as 25/1 with Paddy Power at the moment, and the 11 time FA Cup winners are 1/14 on, with the draw a 10/1 bet.

United are huge odds on to qualify at 1/100 but there is still plenty of value to be found in the odds for this apparent mis-match. Crawley are the big spenders in the Blue Square Premier and will take great heart from the fact United's last two matches against non-league opposition in the FA Cup have ended in 0-0 draws and the fact Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to rest his big guns with a Champions League match against Marseille coming up in mid-week.

Michael Owen would have fancied a start but he has a groin injury and could be out for the season, and he joins Park Ji-Sung and Rio Ferdinand on the treatment table. With Wayne Rooney and/or Dimitar Berbatov likely to be rested it is well worth a look at Javier Hernandez to score first on Saturday at odds of 5/2 with PaddyPower.com. It was Hernandez who popped up with the winner in the fourth round to beat Southampton 2-1 last month.

Crawley manager Steve Evans will know the importance of not conceding early and will look to keep it tight to stay in the match for as long as possible, so the timecast of Man Utd to score after 18 minutes at odds of 11/10 could be worth a look. Alternatively the time of the first goal being 21-30 minutes is tempting as a 9/2 bet.

The Crawley players are each in on a £150 bonus if they do win on Saturday and while that may seem a little farfetched they are a decent punt to score, with the odds of both teams to score available at 11/8. United have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five and Crawley boast Matt Tubbs who has scored 28 goals in 29 starts this season. He is 3/1 to score anytime at 'The Theatre of Dreams' and that would be a dream outcome for the £70,000 signing from Salisbury.

Crawley are flying high in second place in the Blue Square Premier at the moment and are the first non-league side to reach the fifth round in 17 years having claimed the notable scalps of Torquay and Derby County. But a match against the Premier League leaders is a completely different level and United's 14 match unbeaten record this season is unlikely to come under threat with the 4-1 scoreline available at odds of 13/1.

We fancy Crawley to do themselves proud at Old Trafford but United should put themselves safely into the next round and over 3.5 goals in the match is 4/6 on or alternatively Man Utd to score four goals or more is available at odds of 11/10, and another FA Cup trophy could be on the horizon.
