Spurs v Wolves Odds: Crouch Easy to back for First Goal Scorer

Spurs entertain a Wolves team this weekend hoping to redeem themselves from the double defeat of last season, when the Midlands team won both Premier League encounters by 1-0. The Bookmakers however do not seem unduly perturbed by the Wolves success in the last two fixtures and most quote the North London club at around 2/5 odds on to win, although Ladbrokes are offering the best price of a Spurs win of 4/9. The Magic Sign also quote Wolves at a very tempting 7/1 and go 3/1 the draw.

In many ways, Spurs will be looking to get their Premier League season back on track after an indifferent start to the season so far. Beaten 0-1 by Wigan in their last home match, followed up by a 1-1 away draw against newly promoted West Bromwich Albion, the fourth best side in the Premier League from last season have only secured 5 points in their first 4 games. In Europe they had a good 2-2 draw in Germany in midweek in their first ever Champions League match against Werder Bremen, but even that was a little hollow as they gave away a two goal lead.

Harry Redknapp will of course be without the long term injured, Jonathan Woodgate, Jermaine Defoe and Michael Dawson and doubts remain over the fitness of Luca Modric and Rafael Van Der Vaart, who made an impressive start to his Spurs career against Werder Bremen, until going off injured. Although it will not be confirmed until just before the kick off, it looks likely that Redknapp, will leave the central striking duties to Peter Crouch, who scored an excellent header in midweek and was on hand to have scored the first goal had not the Bremen defender beaten him to it.

2010 Premier League Odds Comparison

Mick McCarthy’s Wolves have made a very encouraging start to the new season with just one defeat away at Fulham last weekend. They will be pleased that they have scored in every game so far this season too, with new signing Sylvan Ebanks-Blake already netting twice and who has outstanding odds of 10/1 with Ladbrokes.com to open the scoring at White Hart Lane.

Unlike a lot of teams, Wolves appear to enjoy travelling as much as they do playing at home. Six of their nine league wins last season were secured away from home, suggesting that they set their stall out not to lose easy, using an aggressive defence with a quick counter-attacking policy and which paid handsomely for them against Spurs last season.

There is no doubt that Sours should win this game, they have superiority in almost every position. But they are certainly not however, at their best as their league results indicate, but Wolves on the hand, have never played better since arriving in the top flight. These are the reasons why we think this game could well end up a draw and probably a low or no scoring one at that. A 1-1 draw is a 6/1 bet with Ladbrokes. Bookmakers, while a 0-0 draw has odds of 12/1
