Swansea v Forest Betting: Odds predict another tight match in play off semi final

Nottingham Forest would’ve been slightly disappointed with not gaining a first leg advantage in their Championship play-off with Swansea at the City Ground on Thursday night. Neil Taylor’s early dismissal meant the Swans had to play with ten men for nearly the whole game but Brendan Rodgers’ resilient defence managed to keep Forest’s attack at bay and grab a goalless draw.

Now the sides will do battle at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night to determine who will go to Wembley to play Reading or Cardiff. Swansea are favourites to win the tie in 90 minutes and Victor Chandler have them at Even money, whilst Forest are 3/1 and the draw is 23/10.

The Welsh outfit have an awesome home record this season losing only three games on their own patch and they have not lost on home soil in their last eight outings. On the other hand, Forest have been free-scoring away from home in recent weeks and have notched three in their last two away games against Bristol City and Crystal Palace respectively.

However, Rodgers may well have some injury problems for the second leg with both Stephen Dobbie and Fabio Borini doubts for the game after limping off in Thursday’s match. So, with that in mind, the draw could possibly offer the best value; thus sending the game into extra time and the 23/10 about the draw is the way to go.

Scott Sinclair has been a revelation this year, scoring 24 goals in all competitions and it is no surprise that the diminutive winger is 19/4 favourite with Victor Chandler. His raw pace has torn teams apart all season and he has to be the stand-out bet for the first scorer. Dobbie (13/2) and Borini (5/1) are extremely poor odds in comparison and should be avoided.

Kris Boyd has been in terrific form of late notching four in his last four games and the Scottish striker could be the best bet from a Forest point of view and Victor Chandler’s 7/1 is one to be wary of, as is his potential strike partner Robert Earnshaw, who at 7s could be a possible first scorer.

Swansea’s rearguard has been sublime this season having only conceded 11 goals all season in front of their home fans. So, this has all the makings of being a tight, cagey affair with very few chances being offered at both ends. Even though it is only 11/2 the 1-1 draw has to be the stand-out bet in the correct score market and this nail-biting tussle could go all the way to the dreaded penalty shoot-out.
