On Wednesday evening Chelsea welcome the Danish side FC Copenhagen to Stamford Bridge for the second leg of their Champions League last 16 fixture. Those of us that are not lucky enough to watch the game at the Bridge can follow the action on ITV4.
Chelsea go into this second leg fixture against FC Copenhagen with a two goal advantage following their 2-0 win last month at the Parken Stadium which saw striker Nicolas Anelka score a goal in each half of the match against the Danish champions - who suffered their first ever defeat at home in the Champions League. The striker is at evens in the betting to score again at anytime during the match with Ladbrokes.
The result last month eased the pressure on Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti who was feeling the heat after Chelsea were knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties by Everton in their 4th round FA Cup replay. This is after Chelsea have already faced the fact that a Premier League title is pretty much out of reach for them this season. The win has helped to keep Chelsea’s dream of winning some silverware this season alive as unless a major slip up happens tonight they are pretty much guaranteed entry into the quarter finals of the Champions League.
Chelsea fans will looking towards their £50 million super signing Fernando Torres to make his goal scoring debut during this match, and he is 4/7 to score anytime. The striker so far has not managed to hit the back of the net but there is hope that as Chelsea has more or less qualified for the quarter finals that the striker will not be under pressure and can have a more relaxed outing and show some of the flair and finishing that made Chelsea break the English transfer record for the player. Ladbrokes.com offer the tempting betting market of a scorecast for Torres to score first and Chelsea to win 2-1 at 18/1.
Although Chelsea are the clear favourites at 3/10 in the betting to win this match, FC Copenhagen cannot be dismissed as no-hopers despite being 10/1 in the betting. The first leg was the Danish team's first competitive match back after a lengthy winter break and as such they did not look 100% match fit and perhaps gave Chelsea too much time on the ball. After now playing more games they could look more like the side that held Barcelona to a draw during the group stages.
