Shamrock v Tottenham Betting: Back Spurs to secure a big win in Dublin

Tottenham's hopes of qualifying for the Europa League knockout stages hang by a thread ahead of their final Group A match at Shamrock Rovers on Thursday evening. Spurs need a big win at theTallaght Stadium in Dublin and they are 4/9 to take three points, while Shamrock are 6/1 to cause an upset in the match betting with Paddy Power.

Spurs currently sit in third place in the group and if they are to nick second place and qualify for the knockout stage they will need to come up with a big win and hope Rubin Kazan, currently second, lose to PAOK. For Shamrock this match is a chance to save some pride after losing all five of their group matches so far.

Rovers have conceded 15 goals in the group stages so far and they have conceded three goals in both of their home matches. Former Spurs midfielder Rohan Ricketts will be hoping to score against his former club and he is 12/1 to score first, although Karl Shepphard has been in fine form of late and is 9/1 in the same first scorer betting market.

Shamrock won the League of Ireland last month but haven't played a competitive match for two weeks and we fancy that Spurs extra quality and match sharpness could see them secure a big victory this week. They won 3-1 against the Irish side at White Hart Lane earlier this season, although they will need an even bigger win this week.

Harry Redknapp will not be too concerned if his side do go out of the competition as the Premier League, where they currently sit fourth, is their priority and they have a home match against Sunderland to come on Sunday. Expect Redknapp to rest his star players and give his squad players a chance.

Roman Pavlyuchenko will be keen to impress as he bids to engineer a move away from Spurs in January and ensure his place in Russia's Euro 2012 squad. He has scored two in his last three outings in the Europa League and he is currently 9/2 to be first goalscorer.

Spurs are well worth their favourites tag against Shamrock, particularly as they have won four and lost none of five meetings with Irish teams, and Paddy Power offer 15/2 for Tottenham to win by four or more goals. Alternatively, the correct score of 4-1 can be backed at a juicy 19/1, although Spurs' qualification hopes depend on how Rubin Kazan get on at PAOK.
