Liverpool v Everton Odds: Back Blues to earn a draw in the betting for Dalglish's Anfield return

The Merseyside derby follows hot on the heels of the Midlands derby on Sunday afternoon as Kenny Dalglish takes charge at Anfield for the first time since his latest appointment as Liverpool manager. Dalglish has been unable to wave the 'magic wand' and produce wins as so many fans thought he would as they succumbed to defeats at Man United and Blackpool, but his side go in as favourites on Sunday with Paddy Power at odds of 23/20. Derby matches are notoriously difficult to predict but the draw looks good at odds of 9/4, while Everton can be backed at 5/2.

Since the arrival of Dalglish, thirteenth placed Liverpool have lost to Man United in the FA Cup and 2-1 to Blackpool in the Premier League, which has dampened expectations that things would get better once Roy Hodgson had left. The squad is low on confidence and a run of four defeats in their last five tells its own story, and with Steven Gerrard suspended and Joe Cole doubtful they face an uphill task in what is sure to be a red hot atmosphere at Anfield.

Fernando Torres at least managed to get on the scoresheet at Blackpool and he has a fine record against Everton - scoring in three of his last four against them. He has a disappointing tally of seven goals this season but is odds on favourite at 9/2 with PaddyPower.com to score first on Sunday. It looks a decent bet as Liverpool have scored in nine of their ten matches at Anfield.

Matches against Everton are always spicy affairs, with five red cards in the last seven between the two, and a red card on Sunday can be backed at odds of 11/5 with Paddy Power. Alternatively the 60-70 booking points is currently 16/5.

Everton have a poor record at Anfield, winning only two of eighteen and with no win in the last ten, but they are in decent form of late. There were early season fears of relegation but they have pulled away to twelfth place following a run of only one defeat in six. They will miss top scorer Tim Cahill, who is on international duty, but his fellow midfielders Mikel Arteta and Seamus Coleman offer a real goal threat. Arteta is 4/1 to score anytime and add to his season tally of three, while Coleman looks good at odds of 7/1 having scored three in his last four.

The Liverpool defence looks as poor as it's ever been with Glen Johnson, Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Martin Skrtel all struggling for form, so we fancy this to be quite an open affair. Over 3.5 goals is at odds of 5/2 at the moment and might be worth a look and the score draw is currently 10/3 with PaddyPower.com. Everton are draw specialists in the league, drawing ten, and with Liverpool struggling for results a 2-2 draw, in an entertaining match that leaves Dalglish still searching for a win, looks good at odds of 12/1.
