Manchester City's want away striker Carlos Tevez is 6/5 in the betting with SkyBet to never play for the club again following his transfer request. He reportedly wants to leave the club due to differences with certain executives at the club and there have been reports that he may refuse to play or even retire from football all together.
City have reportedly said they will seek compensation if Tevez did refuse to play or quit as the latest transfer saga begins to gather pace. It was originally understood that Tevez was homesick and wanted to return to his native Argentina, but the assertion that he wants to leave the club due to a fall out has caused shock. It is even more bizarre as his side now sit second in the Premier League and appear to be mounting a genuine challenge for the title.
Tevez is set on a move away and it appears to be a case of when not if he leaves, and William Hill have Tevez to leave during the January transfer window at 7/4 in the betting. Like the Rooney saga of a few months ago, the latest transfer rumblings at the other Manchester club will cause some serious movements in the betting markets for Tevez's next club.
A move to any South American club is currently 9/4 with Victor Chandler bookmakers, but it is Real Madrid who have emerged as favourites. They have shortened to 2/1 in the betting and a striker of Tevez's calibre would be a welcome addition as Karim Benzema continues to misfire for Jose Mourinho's side. How Mourinho would handle a character such as Tevez could be key in luring him there, particularly as Tevez only 18 months ago wanted to leave Man United due to a lack of playing time. He now has that playing time and is the key man for City but that still does not appear enough to satisfy this enigmatic character.
Meanwhile Tevez moving to Barcelona is an industry best priced 13/2 with VCBet, and a shock move to another English club hasn't been completely ruled out by bookmakers. A move to Chelsea is 15/2, despite the rumblings over Ancelotti's future at the club and his precarious position in the next manager to leave betting, while a sensational move to Tottenham is currently 12/1.
There are sure to be plenty of twists and turns over the next few weeks with the January transfer window fast approaching, and we'll keep you right up to date with the latest betting activity.
